I smile at Mina and kiss her hand gently. "Would you rally the workers? I think it's time to tell them our plan." She nods her head and confidently stands up, yelling out for all the workers to gather close. A few curious heads turn our way, but hardly anyone comes forward. For the few who do, they seem disinterested when Mina explains the plan. After only a few minutes, everyone leaves us and wanders back over to their jobs.

"Charlotte, they're not going to listen to me. I haven't been here very long -hardly anyone knows who I am. I have no idea how to get them to come."
I sigh, heart dampened. The plan won't work if we don't have anyone to help us. "We need something that they all want," Mina shrugs. "At least, that's what would get me to help."
"Isn't escape enough?"
"They're risking their lives for a plan they don't even know will work."

Determination rises in my throat like a battle cry, and I yell out for everyone to listen. Surprisingly, practically everyone in the room turns their head towards me with interest. Slightly embarrassed I turn towards Mina, but she urges me to explain the plan. So I do. As I finish explaining, the workers begin to whisper excitedly. I dismiss them, and immediately the air is filled with the sound of metal pipes being torn off the wall and sharpened into spears. Younger workers are grabbing coals and dumping them in water to cool them off. I nod my head, glad that they took my suggestions for creating weapons.

"I can't believe we're finally going to escape. I've been dreaming of this day for...well, forever."
I turn her chin towards me and kiss her on the lips. "We're going to escape, and it's going to be great. We'll finally be free."
