The first thing to hit her was the smell. The creature reeked of acrid fumes. If she could describe it in two words: burning flesh. It was so pungent she felt dizzy.
But it merely watched her. With a pupil so black she mistook it for a mirror and a bloodred sclera, no white to be seen. Where there should be eyelashes, there were stitches. The skin so torn and scaly, the eye looked to be ripped open.
And it's mouth. She'll forever have nightmares of those obsidian razor sharp teeth, within a mouth so bloody she knew it never stopped feeding. There were still some guts hanging between its two right teeth.
Her breathing was coming out in short gasps again.
No. Don't.
She couldn't think straight.
The creature smiled, it's eye blinked.
Taking a small step back, Niraka slowly lowered her gaze to behold the being facing her.
It seemed to be floating. The darkness radiating off it alone made her spine lock up. It's body made of shadows, skin and... eyes. Eyes that were sown shut.
"Bloody hell..." Niraka breathed.
As it moved to stand straight, she saw more clearly that the skin was not its own, rather made up of various different kinds- animals, humans, fairies, and things she couldn't even being to fathom, all in different stages of decaying.
As it moved, it's shadows drifted in the wind, exposing the holes within it's form.
How is it even standing?
She could think of no explanation for the creature that stood before her. But judging from the grin stretching across it's bloody face, Niraka knew she was it's next meal.
