trivia: 1.) joaquín is an orphan (soz joaquín!!), he was orphaned at the age of 7 and ended up on the street until he was 10 and rune adopted him 2.) he is mexican, rune struggles a lot because he's VERY fluent in spanish & isn't that great at english + costa rican spanish is quite different from mexican spanish (+ rune is not fluent, so he speaks a weird mixture of costa rican spanish + mexican spanish once joaquín is older) 3.) he's a year younger than juliet 4.) he loves animals but specifically dogs. has a little dog that follows him around on the street and he forces rune to let him inside (SHOUTOUT BEBE!!) 5.) had a very loving family and is just starting to fair well on the street when rune takes him in (is very on edge from that & the society), is very much so a hard-shell soft in the middle kind of guy, hard to get to know but very sweet once it actually happens 6.) has a lil accent that's weaned off by the time he's older but is very present the first few years at the academy 7.) he didn't take rune's last name because he wanted to keep a part of his parents with him </3 he knows he's a half-blood but tells rune he's pure, rune finds out like 3 years after he adopted him and pretends he doesn't know 8.) quite good at ritual magic & wants to go into a job regarding that 9.) gordo is a nickname used only by rune, it's an endearing term for "chubby" kids but rune uses it because joaquín is not a small boy, he's quite broad 10.) he loves when people that Do Not speak spanish try, will purposefully pretend to not know english just to hear somebody attempt (he makes fun of them in his free time) 11.) REFUSES to become "colonized" as he calls it, stays very connected with his culture and inspires rune to get more in touch with his 12.) goes through it pretty heavily when rune dies, knew it was gonna happen even though he wasn't on good terms with dean when he passed but was not ready in the slightest 13.) his parents did not die at the same time, his mom killed herself when he was four & his dad died in a car wreck when he was seven 14.) joaquín consistently uses cebalrai as proof that he isn't short 15.) BIG FAN of mortal pop culture, watched a ton of tv with rune growing up (ex: jem, he-man, fraggle rock, saved by the bell, full house, fresh prince of bel-air, thundercats, etc.) 16.) boxes in his free time :3 he says he has to stay fit somehow and makes rune come with him sometimes
