Chapter Two

The lights started to dim and the DJ began shifting the music from quieter background music to redrum by 21 Savage. The boys got up excitedly and moved to the dance floor with most of the other people in the room. The song became Whatever She Wants by Bryson Tiller, and they kept dancing. The group was having fun, laughing and dancing together, making up nee moves as they went along. After a while, Blue was really sweaty and Teddy had exceeded his natural redness to resemble a tomato.

Suddenly, the beginning of Carnival started playing. The boys moved to the front of the dance floor by the DJ booth. Blue noticed a camera and called everyone over to it. They danced and screamed the song to the camera. They shoved each other around, swaying to the song. Blue, Frankie, and Teddy were in front of the camera, Blue singing straight into it. Turk was caught behind them in the sea of other guests. He stood on his toes in efforts to be seen by the camera too, but it was barely any use.

Soon, a break from dancing was called for a candle lighting ceremony. Once it was done, the lights dimmed again. The boys huddled together and when they heard the beginning of Just Wanna Rock, they began singing and dancing again. The cameraman turned the camera back on, capturing Blue starting to dance. Turk pushed his way to the middle of the group, he copied Blue's dance moves, his friends egging him on to stick his tongue out and keep dancing with Blue. He and Blue locked eyes, smiling and laughing as they danced. Turk stared into Blue's eyes, unknowingly searching for a million things somehow. Validation maybe. Maybe more. He shook off the feeling, continuing to dance.

Eventually, the night came to an end. Blue was drenched in sweat and Teddy's color was comparable to a fresh apple. They all walked out to the parking lot. As Turk waited for his ride, he watched from the door as Blue got into Frankie's car. He quickly looked away once he realized he had been looking at his friend for a solid minute. He looked at the ground, questioning why he would do that. He lifted his head up when he saw his brother's car pull up in front of him. He climbed in and sat silently, looking out the window. He didn't know what he even felt confused about, but he was feeling it.
