Bam!
The ball slammed against the other side of the court after Hinata and Kageyama set up another quick attack.
"Yeahh," Hinata grinned at Kageyama, high-fiving him with both hands. Around them, everyone in the gym was in good spirits. They were all focused on their practice, tired but happy. "Nice one guys!" Nishinoya laughed, jogging up to the two. "Way to end the game." Hinata smiled, rubbing the back of his head. "Thanks, man."
Ukai rubbed his hands together before calling out, "Good practice everyone. Everyone can head out now, but be careful for the rain. It should be coming down soon."
Hinata groaned. "Oh noooo, I forgot my umbrella at home." Kageyama rolled his eyes. "I told you it would rain," he said, irritated. Everyone began to put on their hoods and sweatpants, preparing for the cold weather outside. It was mid October, the orange and red leaves slowly starting to fall off the trees. The wind getting colder, winter beginning to draw near.
Hinata walked outside, putting his hand out to feel the harsh rain starting. He looked down thinking, "Ah great. How am I going to bike home in this?" He pulled his hood over his head, and tugged on the strings. He began walking in the rain to get to his bike and start to his house, when he felt someone yank at his hood. "Hey!" He exclaimed. Kageyama crossed his arms before pulling out his umbrella. "Let's go." Hinata eyes him suspiciously. "What are you looking at?? Cmon." Kageyama signals. "Okayy.." Hinata says sceptically before letting his bike under the cover of the gym roof.
Hinata and Kageyama walk side by side underneath his umbrella, Hinata staring at Kageyama. "Uh.. you're not gonna like, throw me into that puddle are you?" Hinata questions slowly, pointing at the big puddle the rain has created. "No, what! Whys it so weird that im letting you under the umbrella with me?" Kageyama asks him, annoyed. "Sorry, sorry. I guess it's noooot weird," Hinata says.
As they begin to walk a little more, they start to talk more about practice. They laugh at each other's jokes, and almost forget where they're supposed to be headed. Suddenly, Kageyama stops. "Hey, isn't that your house?" Hinata turns his head to where Kageyama is looking. "Yup, I guess I'll be off now. See you later, Bakayama," he says before turning around. He feels a hand stopping him. He turns around, and sees Kageyama looking at him, cautiously. Quickly, Kageyama gives him a small peck on the cheek. He looks away, trying not to show the blush on his face. Hinata is dumbfounded, but he isn't mad about it. He gives Kageyama a hug, and runs off to his house, beaming.
Kageyama turns around, and feels himself grinning like an idiot. "I can't believe that worked. He didn't run away from me. I mean he did, but he hugged me first. God, he runs like a chicken." Kageyama chuckled, watching Hinata open his front door and wave to Kageyama. He waves back, and after the door closes, Kageyama resists the urge to skip all the way home.
Kageyama POV
I can't believe that Hinata didn't smack me or run away when I kissed him. But what if he was just trying to be nice? I don't think that was it though. I think he might like me back, or at least I hope so. I really, really hope so. I laid on my bed, setting a volleyball up and down. All I can think about is Hinata. His annoying little grin (it was never really annoying), his warm brown eyes that make me melt every time I see them, his smirk that grows on his face when we beckon, his cheerful personality that lights up everyone's day, especially mine. How could anyone ever love him as much as I do? But how could anyone not love him? Lost in thought, I forget to set the ball, and it lands right on my face. "Ow," I groan. My scowl slowly turns into a smile, when I think about Hinata's laugh if he saw this. God, I miss him. I love him.
The next day
Third person POV
Kageyama got up and checked his phone. His heart skips a beat when he sees it's from Hinata. He lets out a breath and opens the message.
