A quick succession of three knocks on the door came from behind letting me know someone was at the door. I was in the midst of scanning over my most recent incident report, reviewing it for any errors before sending it on its way to the General Student Council. God knows Rin would chew me out again if she found any errors like the last time, and I didn't really want to cause her any more undue stress with everything she's got on her plate right now. Hyper focused on my computer screen I barely noticed as my office door opened followed by a pair of footsteps.
"Sensei? I'm here for my shift." Someone called out to me. I paused what I was doing for the moment to swivel around in my chair to properly greet my student. The student in question had long white hair going down past her knees with blunt bangs stopping right above her violet colored eyes. She was wearing a white suit jacket and skirt with pantyhose belonging to her specific academy. I took a glance up at the clock hanging up on the wall to see it was exactly four o'clock down to the second. Returning my gaze back to the student she greeted me with a warm smile.
"Right on time like always Noa." I greeted her which garnered me a chuckle.
"Of course, being on time is important. What kind of secretary would I be if I showed up late?" Noa replied.
Noa Ushio of the Millennium Science School, one of the most prestigious academies here in Kivotos. While many of the other academies focused on tradition or combat, Millennium was focused entirely on science and mathematics and prided itself on logic and technical skills. Every major scientific breakthrough in recent history could be traced back to Millennium, and most of the inventions and infrastructure here in Kivotos was built by them. Heck, even my smartphone was made by Millennium.
"So what will we be working on today?" Noa asked. "More record keeping today, or perhaps you'll be making another attempt at record keeping today?" Noa teased.
One of the authorities granted to me at Schale was that I could take command of any students in Kivotos in my official capacities and I could have one on loan as a secretary to help me. Though ever since I came to Kivotos I hadn't had a secretary for the longest time with only having some students offer to help me do some tasks here and there. It wasn't until I met Noa at the Kivotos Halo Festival and helped her and Yuuka sort out some problems, that I asked her to become Schale's secretary. The choice was obvious. Her photographic memory allows her to remember almost anything perfectly, a skill that I thought would come in handy helping me with my work. Unfortunately the past few times she's been able to come and help I didn't have much for her to do so she wound up recording everything I did instead, and the second time I foolishly took it upon myself to try and do the same to her to see if I could get under her skin. Suffice to say that was a mistake and one I won't be repeating, but I did enjoy the time spent with Noa. Since then however there's been a lot going on all over Kivotos in the past few weeks and it wasn't until things finally returned to normal recently that Noa's secretary duties could resume. Not to say these past few crazy weeks hadn't seen Noa help me out at all, but it wasn't in doing paper work.
"No." I simply replied, swiveling around turning my back to her as I picked something up before standing up from my chair. "I hope you got your homework done."
"Of course..." Noa replied cautiously.
"That's good." I turned around. Noa's eyes fixated at the sight of the paperwork rising all the way from my lower torso to the top of my head.
"That's not so b..." Noa murmured, but before she finished I turned around and picked up another stack of paperwork and dropped it down in front of her. This time Noa furrowed her eyebrows at the stack of paperwork with a frown.
"But wait, there's more." I spun around. In my hands was yet another stack of paperwork for her to do. Each stack was larger than the last, and I dropped the third stack down in front of her. For the first time I saw Noa visibly disturbed as she grimaced at the amount of paperwork in front of her. If I had known all this would take to break her composure, I would have done this last time instead of trying to record her every move.
