I don't remember the drive or arriving at the destination. I don't remember being placed in the bed I woke up in.
As soon as I woke up, my body jolted upright, my eyes scanning the room around me. It was a simple brick room, a desk to my right that had papers piled on top, A laptop sat abandoned. The bed, a double, was felt comfortable beneath me. A single bedside table was against the left side of the bed with a cheap lamp on it that flickered every three seconds yet none the less illuminated the room. I didn't have time to take in the surroundings in detail before my breathing became rapid and labored, I was starting to hyperventilate, and I was scared out of my whits. I didn't hear anyone moving around outside the room, and the door was open, yet I felt like I'd been chained down, unable to leave, unable to do anything until I was set free. The struggle of trying to control my beathing was getting harder and I couldn't think straight but I knew for certain that I couldn't just sit here, in a strange place with people I'd never met before. Just look at how that turned out for me before. I didn't give myself time to think through a plan entirely before letting out the most blood curdling scream that came from the depths of my gut.
Almost as soon as I screamed out, I heard chairs being scraped quickly across the ground and the sound of running feet up the hallway. A tall figure appeared in the doorway followed by a shorter guy. The taller man had long brown hair reaching his chin making him look like he belonged in a boy band. The shorter had closely cropped hair shorn shorter at the base of his neck.
The taller man put his hands out in front of him as if approaching a wild animal. He was breathing heavily and slowly. He lowered himself as if to make himself seem smaller and extended one hand out slightly further than the other, almost as if he was trying to reach out to me. His hands moved up and down slightly in time with his slowing breaths, he took a step forward slowly, entering the room.
"Hey, you're okay. We're not going to hurt you. You're okay."The shorter guy stood behind the other, just watching me softly. Tall man took another step towards me, and I moved backwards in the bed quickly to keep the distance between us. I soon found that it wasn't one of the finest ideas I've had, and I suddenly felt nauseous. My whole body felt like it had just been run over by a stampede of buffalo. My head was pounding so much it felt like I was going to throw up. There was not a millimeter of my body that wasn't in immense pain with every movement I made.
I almost passed out from the blinding pain of my movements for a second time, and I'm guessing that 'tall man' could sense this as he rushed over to the side of the bed, kneeling on the ground so he could see me eye to eye. The room started to spin, and everything felt like I was about to combust. The sensation in my stomach and the pressure in my throat indicated that I didn't have long before everything would soon be leaving."I...I think.... I think I'm going to throw up."
At my words 'short man' disappeared to find a bucket or a trash bin, and as soon as he returned with one, he handed it to 'tall man,' who handed it to me, and the contents of my stomach made its way into the bin almost as soon as it reached my arms. Almost as soon as it reached my arms. Tall man stood up and held my hair out of my face while I puked, even though I really didn't want either man near me, I didn't have the energy or the strength to tell them to go away or to shove it where the sun doesn't shine.
My body was weak, and I could hardly hold my own head up. My breathing was quick and shallow, causing my body to shake and my heartbeat to speed up. I was lightheaded and my chest felt like it was being compressed. I couldn't see straight. I needed to get out of there. I needed to leave. I wasn't safe here, I needed to go home. I don't know where home was but I here with these, well, strangers.
I tried to move so I could get off the bed, but my limbs felt too heavy to move, it was like I'd been set in concrete, unable to do anything. Every time I moved, a blinding white light blurred my vision, and it made me want to throw up again.
