THE PURE FEAR that had gone through Clarisse when she saw a message from Aurora was unmatched.
Colby wants to talk to you soon.
"I can't," the girl whispered as she stared at her phone. Taylor noticed and slowly took it from her friend as she glanced at it.
"Oh, Clare..."
"What do I say?" Clarisse whispered. This was the man that yelled curse words at for because of James. The one whom's fans send Clarisse hate comments and death threats every day, even going as far as branching to Allison sometimes.
"What do you want to do?" Taylor asked her, blue eyes staring into Clarisse's brown ones.
"I want to know what he wants."
"Then that's what you say."
Clarisse stood outside Aurora's house, fist raised to knock. She did, jumping when it flew open instantly.
"Hi," Colby said softly. He saw the phone clenched tightly in Clarisse's hands as he let her in.
"So," she turned back to him. "What?"
"Um," he rubbed the back of his neck. "Since you're back, I wanted to know..."
"Know what?" She pressed when he faded off.
"Why you cheated," he blurted. Clarisse's hands dropped to her side.
"You're kidding."
He began to glare. "No, I'm not."
"Aurora didn't tell you, did she?"
"Tell me what?"
"THAT I DIDN'T CHEAT!" Clarisse yelled.
He rolled his eyes. "Don't lie, I saw the picture, Clarisse!"
Tears began to roll down her face. She grabbed her phone and found the photo he was talking about, taken a two years before James broke up with her, a year before they met. She showed him.
"You're showing me proof you cheated, Clarisse," he said softly. It looked like it hurt to see the picture.
She pointed to the date. "See that? A year before we even met!"
Colby froze as he stared at it. "What?"
"He showed you a picture of us to try and pull up apart," Clarisse stuffed her phone in her pocket. "And you believed him. I'm leaving."
She pushed past him and left his house, tears still running down her cheeks.
