"i hope you are subliminally thinking of me,
i'm watching you, you're swimming in the salty sea,
my closest friend, i see you so differently,
when i look at you, i think you might be god to me"...
jisung frowned as his friend, hyunjin, approached him with fresh bruises.
hyunjin sat across from jisung at the outdoor seating of the café, "hey, 'sung," he said as casually as possible, but jisung heard the slight quiver in his voice.
jisung didn't verbally respond, he just observed the bruises scattered all along the older boy's legs. he didn't have to guess what happened, it happened so often now. every time, jisung grew even more disappointed in the humanity of their school.
hyunjin had never done anything to warrant the bullying, besides the fact that he 'looks & acts gay'. jisung - & any sane person - thought that idea was absurd, was it gay to take care of your hygiene, have long hair, & have a good sense of style?
jisung sighed & gently trailed his fingers along the fresh bruises, making sure not to press down. hyunjin watched him carefully before speaking, "'sung, do you think i look... you know, gay?"
jisung just frowned & looked away, "well, it's not really something to base off of appearance, it's who you're attracted to." hyunjin shrugged.
"anyway, it shouldn't matter what i think, or anyone thinks, but personally, i think you look pretty damn cool. just, you know, without all the bruises."
hyunjin looked to the side to avoid his eyes, jisung finally noticing the faint black eye. the younger winced just at the sight, "god, why do they care so much about what you look like," he mumbled, hyunjin shrugging again. jisung's heart broke at the boy's pitiful expression.
he ran into the small café to ask for a cup of ice, grabbing paper towels as well. once he returned, hyunjin let him soothe his wound, pouting to himself. "thank you," he said quietly. jisung just hummed & gently held his face as he lightly dabbed the cold napkins on the area.
"i know it hurts, but you shouldn't want to change yourself for others. try your best not to listen to them, & i'll always be here for you," jisung reassured. hyunjin smiled at his words, "thanks, 'sung."
though jisung's words made him feel a bit better, it didn't fix anything.
