Pairing: Pre-Relationship Amelia Shepherd x Female Reader
Author's Note: Reader is a trauma surgeon at Seattle Grace (or whatever the hospital is called now bc I haven't really watched the show in a long time lol).. . . . .
You and Amelia were arguing over a case...again. It was late and to be quite honest, that was probably the only reason the two of you were bickering. Despite the late hour, the hospital was still bustling with people and of course out of all places, you both had ended up in the middle of the ER.
While the patient had yet to arrive via EMS, you had been paged down to the ER for a trauma alert and arrived before the ambulance. And now you found yourself arguing with Amelia over which of you gets them first: you the trauma surgeon or her the neurosurgeon.
You both knew it was you; if the bleeding wasn't controlled first, then the patient would never make it to the Amelia's operating table. But what you didn't understand was why she was giving you such a hard time about it.
And you weren't the only one invested in this argument. The two of you had gained a semi audience of nurses and other hospital staff who were "busying" themselves at the nurses' station.
It was the charge nurse who finally broke it up, "Enough already! I already have too many doctors in my ER standing around and doing nothing. Dr. Y/N, go to the trauma bay where you're supposed to be. Dr. Shepherd, we'll page the OR when we're ready."
You couldn't help the smug smile that the charge nurse sided with you. Of course, Amelia wasn't too thrilled.
"Oh bite me, Y/N."
"Where?"The response had come flying out of your mouth before your brain had time to process it. The nurses' station had suddenly gone quiet and you knew you had just given everyone the next week's worth of gossip. Amelia's face had instantly gone from angry, to surprised, to what you swore was a faint red blush on her cheeks. You were pretty sure the latter expression was on your face as well.
The charge nurse sighed loudly, "My ER is not a brick and mortar eHarmony. You have a critical trauma patient coming in, please go do your jobs!"
You both mumbled an apology to the clearly agitated nurse before going opposite ways. Usually your arguments either ended in one person storming off or another staff member stepping in but today provided a third option and one you didn't really mind.
