Are You Bored Yet? - Wallows ft. Clairo

* 2 weeks later *

To say I had a blissful experience at the soccer camp would be an understatement. It was everything I wanted and more.

Even with the coaches screaming in my face and the endless hours of training that left my body feeling weak and half dead, I couldn't have asked for a better opportunity. From here I could only get better. I knew what real training looked and felt like. I could prepare myself for my future.

Currently I was sitting in the plane after it had landed back in the Newark Airport, waiting to be let off. I wasn't exactly looking forward to seeing my family again after a few weeks away from them, but I knew I had to eventually.

I had kept in close contact with my sister and Andi all throughout the trip and I knew they missed me more than ever. I missed them too, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't glad I got to be away from them.

A slight buzz from my phone pulled me from my thoughts as I looked down to the screen. A small smile had lifted on my face as I read the notification.

Aunt Jen: I heard you're finally back in town. We should meet up, I miss you bug. Text me!!!

My aunt Jennifer was someone I considered a friend just as much as family. While I didn't see her very often, I'd never be able to forget the times I did. She could pull me out of any funk and make me forget why I was in it in the first place. With her having such a naturally playful and caring aura, it was impossible to turn down the opportunity to see her again.

I quickly typed up a reply before tossing my phone into the pocket of my hoodie and preparing to step foot off the plane.

Me: I miss u more Jen. I'd def be down to hang again. What were u thinking ? 👀

Aunt Jen: Let's go to the city for a bit. I know how much you love it.

. . .

The loud chatter within the pizzeria carried as background noise as I sat with my thoughts. I already missed Florida and it had only been a few hours since I got home.

Currently I was sitting with my closest friends in a pizzeria a few blocks down from my house. It was one that held a lot of memories, even before I was born. The owner, Tony, has known my parents since they were in high school and he was first opening up the restaurant. Now as the man aged to his mid 60's, he loved whenever me and my sister would come visit.

Tony would often tell us stories about my parents being trouble makers in their teen years and ending a night full of partying with his amazing New York slice. The man I considered an uncle, even hung up pictures of my family on his portrait wall. Some of them included the times he would cater our birthday parties and bake the cake fully from scratch.

As I smiled at the silly memories I had from childhood, I was suddenly pulled from my thoughts when a piece of pepperoni flew across the table and landed on my face. Fucking disgusting.

"What the hell guys?" I exclaimed while peeling off the sauce covered meat from my cheek. In return, I was only met with childish giggles and subtle comments around the table.
