Feng Jiu stood on the 50th floor of the East Sea Corporation. Her heart was heavy with the weight of unspoken emotions and unrequited feelings as she found herself on the verge of tears. The realization of Dong Hua's rejection while coupled with his unawareness of her true identity and all the hidden sacrifices she had made to repay her debt of gratitude. It stung like a sharp thorn in her heart. So much so, she found her hand rubbing her heart over the fabric of her chest.
Dong Hua was perceived as being too good for her, as their differences in status and qualities were stark. She found herself on a level that seemed out of reach for someone like him. Despite this, she held onto misplaced hopes, unaware of the improbability of their connection.
With trembling hands and a wavering resolve, Feng Jiu tried to gather her courage and composure trying to will herself to remain strong in the face of disappointment and heartache. She anxiously tapped the elevator button, each tapping a silent plea for escape from the overwhelming emotions that threatened to engulf her as she felt a sense of vulnerability and sadness washing over her.
Feng Jiu tried very hard to be unfazed by the cruel looks and dismissive attitudes directed towards her. She tried her best to remain unfaltering in her determination that she was Bai Feng Jiu chief financial officer (CFO) of Qing Qiu Corporation.
She kept telling herself to pay no mind to those who found enjoyment in her plight. They were selfish women with malicious intentions. Feng Jui knew she should let them dampen her spirit. With resilience in her heart and giving herself a steadfast resolve, she pressed herself onward, all the while trying to hold back her unsolicited tears. Subconsciously she didn't want to give Dong Hua the smile he so desperately wished to wear. Making people cry was a personal hobby he'd crafted over the years.
Suddenly, the elevator doors slid open with a soft chime, revealing the sleek interior and the promise of respite from the tumultuous emotions that swirled around Feng Jiu. She felt as if she could finally breathe as she took in a deep shaky breath. However, Standing behind her was Dong Hua's imposing figure that emanated a complex and mysterious aura behind her.
As if guided by a secret love fate, Dong Hua stepped very close to Feng Jiu back while he gently nudged her forward as he guided her into the awaiting elevator. It was as if he sought to suddenly shield her from the prying eyes he'd created.
The other patrons waiting to enter the elevator all hesitated. The other patrons met Dong Hua's icy mask, his look sent a silent warning to wait for the next ride. As he was behind Feng Jiu's back, she would miss his icy look.
Feng Jiu would suddenly find herself enclosed in a cocoon of emotions and unresolved tension as their destinies suddenly intertwined within the security of an elevator.
She was confused by Dong Hua's sudden proximity and actions, but Feng Jiu's confusion quickly transformed into a mixture of apprehension and intrigue as he moved gracefully to her front. His long nimble fingers brushed against her mask as they threatened to remove it from her face. His touch would send a surge of nervous energy coursing through her veins. The sensation was further intensified by the lingering scent of his sandalwood.
Suddenly her eyes were locked in a gaze with Dong Hua. Feng Jiu felt an inexplicable pull towards him despite all her reservations and torn pain inside her heart. The intricate purple masquerade mask on his face did little to conceal the underlying emotions and intentions that were simmering beneath his icy exterior she'd seen play out through the years. It was as if she was watching ice melt, feeling a sensation as if the water from the melting ice was seeping between her legs.
"It's not midnight yet," Feng Jiu interjected, her voice tinged with her defiance and fox-like curiosity, as Dong Hua attempted to remove her mask.
Dong Hua's response was immediate, his voice rumbling with his authority along with a hint of mischief. "I don't care. I've never been one to follow the rules."
