Chapter Two

After helping out Mrs. Sallow, I entered the hallway. Walking through it was the worst, always full of people doing something stupid. I cringed at most of the conversations I heard while approaching my locker.

It was the beginning of august, most were excited and couldn't wait for Halloween and Christmas. I was never exactly 'stoked' for the fun part of holidays. Like gifts, food and cake. I like seeing my relatives, especially my grandpa.

I finally got to my locker and opened it up to all of my books and belongings I had brought this day. I shuffled through the things in the cramped compartment until I felt someone's hand on my shoulder.

"You gonna show up to the club meeting this time?" A voice behind me questioned. I turned around to see Joel and Bentley, both with smiles on their faces. "I'll try to," I replied. The ends of my mouth forming into an equally comfortable smirk. It was a short conversation before they left and the hallway began to clear out a bit.

I made it to my next class, history. This class went by quicker than the last, the only one that people actually listened to somewhat. Mister Hawksley had to be the only nice teacher here. That's why I enjoyed listening.

We soon packed up and left the classroom. Now, it was lunch. I hated the food they served, it looked like poison and there had been multiple reports of students getting a new kind of disease or severe diarrhoea somehow.

Even though I didn't plan to eat, I sat down at the table my friends had sat at. Matilda Harrison gave me a quick wave, Bentley and Joel sat right next to me. Blabbering about something that was incoherent due to their way of speech.

I studied the room and the groups that sat at each table, instead of listening. The jocks, the popular girls, the gossip queens, drama club, smart kids and geeks, and the pretty boys. Was it weird to just look at multiple people and go 'damn, they're hot'? Because I'm just telling the truth, I'm not attracted or anything.

Anyway, the jocks were smacking lunch trays out of people's hands and laughing while walking away from the scene. They really thought of theirselves as sick and awesome, and to admit, they kind of were. In the field that is, they're terrible anywhere else. Truthfully.

I got up from the table and walked off into the hallway. Hoping to get to Mister Densmore's room first so I could study on my own without any distractions. And, unfortunately, there were already people in there. It's not like it was that big of a deal. Just the teacher typing stuff out on his computer and a group of people, who I assumed was a fourth of the study club in the back of the class.

Mister Densmpre looked up from his computer, fixing his classes as he heard the door open and someone step inside. "Ah, Louis! You've come early again, eh? You here to study because you forgot to last night yet again?" He asked me.

I sighed, nodding my head and scratching the back of my neck. He chuckled and motioned for me to sit down. I quickly got to work. I never really knew how to study, just thought it was finding the more important topics and writing them down on a paper so you can cheat on an upcoming exam. But, can you tell me that I was wrong? Plenty of people do it here.

Soon, the class began rolling in and sat down. The conversations filled my head again. I just closed my book and went on my phone, scrolling through social media. The teacher then got up and announced to the class that we were starting. Half of them shut up, and the other half couldn't give two shits.

And, of course. The rest of the school day went by swiftly. I rode the bus home because I didn't want my parents or siblings going through the trouble of picking me up. They have their own things to worry about. I made it home safely and attempted to open my door. The handle jiggled, but it wouldn't open. "Shit.." I'd curse to myself.

I checked all the hiding spots my mother said the key would be. Under the plant, under the mat, somewhere behind the porch table and in the hanging plant. No key. How unlucky did you have to be for your parents to forget to unlock the door and have your key just.. disappear? Outrageous.

I ended up climbing onto the first floor roof to get through my window. Once step and then another, I'd finally made it into my room. My hand would grip my backpack as I pulled it over the window sill and dropped it onto the floor. Before I did my homework, I wanted time to relax.

I'd flip onto my bed and shut my eyes. A load of thoughts cramped up into my mind once again. School, the internet, my family, my teachers, my relatives and my friends. Questions on what they were doing at the moment bothered me a bit. But I didn't grab my phone to contact and ask them. I simply laid down. Eventually falling asleep from exhaustion.
