Chapter 1

Mother! Mother! Are you finished washing those clothes?

"Not yet, my dear Lollie" My mother said calmly.

Can we have meatloaf and milk for lunch, Mother?

"Of course Lollie, just wait for Mother at the house" My mother said while smiling.

Our house wasn't that far from the house mother was working at. I walked to our house with a happy face, knowing that we'll have meatloaf for lunch.

A thought came to my mind as my smile slowly fades away.

"I wonder where my father is, whenever I ask my mother about him, she always tries to find an excuse so that she won't answer me" I whispered.

"Maybe she just doesn't wanna talk about it! She'll tell you when the time is right!" Reggie yelled.

Hey! You should really stop sneaking up on me like that!

"Sorry Lollie! HAHAHA!" Reggie said while laughing.

You don't even sound like you're really sorry!

Reggie was my Bestfriend, my Mother and his Mother were also friends. I remember Mother telling me that she ran away from her house because her parents wanted me gone. As she Ford far, far away from her home, she encountered Reggie's Mother, Mrs. Amelia, Mrs. Amelia is really kind and beautiful. When she and my Mother met, my mother was about to give birth to me. Reggie was just a year old then, Mrs. Amelia helped my Mother to give birth because she already had an experience being a midwife then. After I was born, she and my mother developed a sturdy friendship. So, me and Reggie also became friends.

I really hope she tell me about my father, I've been dying to know him!

"Let's play!" Reggie said excitedly

No, Reggie! Mother told me to wait at our house!

"Awww, fine then, I'll see you tomorrow!" Reggie then walked away.

I walked slowly to our house, it was still far away but i can see a man in a coat standing infront of our house. As I began to get closer to him, I felt ny heartbeat going faster.

I gathered up my courage to ask who he was and why was he infront of our house.

Excuse me Sir, may I ask who you might be and why are you waiting infront of our house?

The man looked at me and flinched. Suddenly a strong wind blew his hood off and he looked surprised, he seemed familiar but I couldn't seem to recognize him. The man looked shocked and was on the verge of tears.

I felt like he was getting close, and out of the blue, he suddenly hugged me.

I was surprised as I didn't know him at all. Fortunately, my mother arrived just in time and drove the guys away, it's like my mother resents him so much.

"Let's go inside, Lollie" my mother said while trembling.

My mother locked the door and suddenly grabbed me by my shoulder.

"Sweetie, that man is dangerous! Once you see him again, run away as fast as you can, tell the chief that someone dangerous is following you.." My mother said like she has seen a ghost.

I nodded because I didn't want my mother to worry.

It was already lunch time but my mother told me she doesn't have an appetite. I'm worried and want to ask her about the man but my hunger got the best of me. I was in deep thought while I was eating.

Who was that man? Why did my mother get so worked up when she saw him? Do they know each other?

I suddenly remembered when the wind blew his hood off, he was an old man, and he also had brown hair like me and my mother.

I wonder what their relationship is..
