Beckham Hughes had grown up her entire life shrouded by the weight of her name.
Beckham.
Such a wretched name that her footie loving father had claimed for her the moment that she had been conceived. Her brother had gotten the normal name, but she had gotten one that carried expectations.
David Beckham was a notoriously common name in their football loving home. One that she wished had never been mentioned and now she carried it like ink on her pale skin.
She much preferred Victoria anyways as an avid Spice Girls fan.
(Her brother had always loved Sporty Spice, but Posh had been her dream.)
It only got worse when her brother signed on at Richmond and the last name Hughes became synonymous with a little Welsh boy with a dream. One that always ended up as a bad joke with the pundits who always made the comparison that the little Welsh boy had a sister with the same name as one of the greats and he didn't have the slice of talent that the weight of it carried.
Beckham Hughes loved her brother, her twin that she had so lovingly pushed out of the womb fifteen minutes before her, but she was exhausted of constantly being dragged into conversations because she shared a last name with him and a first name with a legend in his sport.
It didn't matter that she was a renowned dancer, one of the few who The Royal Ballet deemed worthy. It didn't matter that Keeley Jones had dragged her into her world of models and socialites. No, all people could do was compare her to her namesake and her brother.
With a new manager finally coming to Richmond, one that actually seemed to give a shit without knowing a lick about the Hughes' favorite sport, Beckham Hughes found herself down a path that she had never dared to travel before.
She found herself spending more time with her already loving brother. She found herself in the midst of the presence of Jamie Tartt.
They had crossed paths before, obviously so as her brother was one of his favorite lackeys, but this new coach had brought about a change in him.
Jamie Tartt's holy ground had always been football and hers had always been the floor of the ballet, but maybe they could find a common ground together. One that they could say was their own holy ground.
Kaya Scodelario as Beckham Hughes
Karen Gillan as Noelle Gallagher
Disclaimer: I do not own the masterpiece that is Ted Lasso. I only claim Beckham and Noelle.
