My "So Called" Life - Chapter 2

"If I'm louder, would you see me?
Would you lay down
In my arms and rescue me?
'Cause we are the same
You save me,
When you leave it's gone again,"

I changed into a dress I purchased recently with Kylie. I touched up on my make up and hair and awaited on my mom to come and get me to leave. We were in no rush because we lived right next door and the dinner party would only officially begin at 19:30. I stood by my balcony door looking down on the drive way.

How could I have not known about the Malik's problems? Have I been that selfish to have let Zayn go through this without standing by his side and why didn't he mention anything to me? I should have paid more attention, this is exactly why I needed change in my life. I made my way downstairs to find out there was still 15 minutes left.

"Hey dad mind if I go earlier around to the Malik's house?" I asked my dad as he came out of his office.

"That's no problem honey but I should warn you that it's not 'the Malik's' anymore," My dad said.

"Yeah I heard, it's just so weird," I said.

"The feeling is mutual but the new fellow isn't so bad and neither is his surname," My dad said.

"Yeah?" I said.

"Yeah, his a mister Sutton," My dad said.

"Thanks for the heads up dad," I said.

"Anytime kiddo," My dad said and I left for Zayn's house. I rang the doorbell once I arrived.

"Lux dear is that you? I haven't seen you in so long! You look beautiful," Zayn's mom said.

"Yes sorry about that," I said sheepishly.

"I know how busy life can be, come on in," Zayn's mom said.

"Yes, congratulations on your new marriage," I said as I surpassed her into the house.

"Oh thank you dear, his just lovely, you'll love him," Zayn's mom said.

"I can't wait to meet him," I said.

"Well as much as I know you love me I know you didn't come early to see me," Zayn's mom said.

"I-"

"Don't worry about it, Zayn's in the den in the backyard, I'm glad to see the two of you together again," Zayn's mom said.

"You and I both Mrs Sutton," I said weirdly still adjusting to her new name and made my way to the backyard, knocking on the den door before entering anyway.

"Great, hey Lux," Zayn said looking up from his book.

"I'm sorry," I blurted out closing the door behind me.

"The sorry line is getting a little old Lux," Zayn said.

"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked.

"About what?" Zayn asked.

"About everything Malik! Your parent's divorce, your mom's new marriage," I said.

"Like you would have cared," Zayn said standing up.

"And why wouldn't I have? Your parents were like my second parents Zayn!" I said.

"Because everything is about you right?!" Zayn said pointing at me.

"I didn't mean it li-"

"Save it, I'm so tired of the 'new Lux', you should have just gone on with your life as is, you can't just butt back into my life whenever you feel like and expect to be accepted with open arms, life doesn't work like that," Zayn said shaking his head.
