A/N: If anyone doesn't like the fact that the oc is black, go away.
"Once I wished I was a duck as mostly ducks
have lots of luck. They swim around all day in a pool
and mostly never have to go to school." I heard the episode of 'Leave It To Beaver' playing on the TV. It was so corny, I decided to draw on my arm."Beaver, I think that's very, very cute." June praises.
"Hey, Beav, you still think you'll get a prize for that?" Wally asked, enthusiastically.
"Sure, Wally. I'm the only kid in the third grade who wrote a poem." Beaver said and Feeny finally stopped the tape and turned the light back on. I almost immediately went back to reading.
"So, how do you feel Ward and June handled
their family problem?" Mr. Feeny asked the class."They were too perfect." Shawn responded immediately and I smiled. He never really partook in class discussions.
"Too TV." Cory said matter of factly. Both my boys were participating in class discussions.
"I agree with you, Mr. Matthews." Mr, Feeny said and I looked up from my book. That was unusual.
"That's not like you." Said exactly what I was thinking.
"In fact, you brought me to today's assignment." Our teacher replied. Okay that makes sense, I think to myself.
"That's like you." Cory, again, replied to my thoughts aloud.
Back in the prehistoric 1950s when Cleavers
strode the earth, the U.S. Census indicated
that a model American family had a mother, a father,
and two children." Mr. Feeny began explaining before Cory interrupted."Leftovers." Cory exclaimed.
"What are you talking about, Mr. Matthews?" Our teacher asked, exhausted already.
"Well, last year in fifth grade we divided up into families and solved problems. It's sixth grade now,
Mr. Feeny. Families are yesterday's news."Very well. This year, I shall let you form into urban gangs." Mr. Feeny said.
"Cool." Cory exclaimed excitedly.
"Each gang will have a mother, a father, and two children."
"You just love dangling that little string of hope
in front of us and yanking it away, don't you?" Cory said, unhappy with the turn of events."I had a cat." The older man replied.
"I bet it hung itself." Shawn mumbled. I swatted his arm, he smirked despite that.
"In this assignment each participant will help the other to become an ideal family member. For instance Mr. Hunter and Mr. Minkus will be paired as brothers." Mr. Feeny smirked mischievously.
"Oh no." They both said, slapping their hand on their forehead. Yeah, it's hard to feel bad for them.
"Trust me. You are going to enjoy this. I know I shall. Now, each of you will write a profile of a model brother. Then each of you must become that brother." The class burst into a fit of laughter knowing that Shawn and Minkus weren't fans of each other.
"You mean Shawn has to act exactly like I want him to?" Minkus asked and I could already see his cogs turning.
"That's correct, Mr. Minkus." Mr. Feeny said with a smirk.
"You're gonna be Minkus' brother. Nerd-o-rama. I'd hate to be the guy who had them for sons." Cory turned in his seat to tease Shawn. I looked at the curly haired boy hoping that he received his comeuppance.
