Elliot opened her eyes. An odd feeling of energy coursing through her. She looked around her surroundings. She was at home, in her bed. The same pale white walls, mismatched furniture and pale green curtains. It must have been a dream. Everything from last night must have been a product of Elliot's overactive imagination. She felt fine, in fact, she felt better than fine. Her left leg did feel a little stiff, but it definitely wasn't broken.
But it had felt so real.
"Ell, Mom said to get up." Ethan said softly, popping his head into Elliot's room. His black hair was in a mess and he wore his favorite rocket ship pajamas. Ethan yawned, rubbing his green eyes with the back of his hand in attempts to wake himself up more. The kid was adorable.
"Okay, Ethan, tell her I'll be down in a minute." Elliot smiled, biting back a yawn. They really were contagious.
"Okie-dokie." He smiled back, his adorable toothy grin the Elliot loved to death. "Elizabeth made pancakes." He informed before leaving the room, closing the door behind him. Ethan was the youngest of the Grimes siblings, at least he was for the next six months. Soon Vivian, Elliot's mother, would be giving birth to another child. The sixth one and hopefully the last.
First there was Elijah, who had long moved to New York to pursue his dreams as a writer. He rarely came home to visit, but Elliot did often get letters from him. The nice old fashioned hand written kind. Elliot had always been closest to Elijah, he had been her role model, still was.
Next was Eevy, who was away at a collage in California. She was the smart one of the family and had graduated a year earlier than her generation. Eevy was on her second year of medical school and her goal was to be a brain surgeon. She and Elizabeth were twins and best of friends; even though they were complete opposites.
Elizabeth, was the more party girl type. Which explained why she was only in the local community collage and working two part time jobs. Though Elizabeth did have a boyfriend. His name was Gale and Elliot thought he was a pretty cool guy. He liked cars and the two often talked about them together, but that was about all they had in common..
Elliot was next, and then seven years after her came Ethan. He was adorable and idolized Elliot. She liked spending time with him and often let him sleep in her room whenever he had a bad dream. Ethan loved being the baby and soaked up all the attention he got, but soon that attention would be placed on the new baby and Elliot was just waiting to see the events that occur once that happened. But for now, she had to get up.
Thankfully it was a Saturday, so Elliot didn't have school, but she still had to go to work. Elliot paid for most of the things she owned. She bought her own clothes, necessities, gas, you name it. Elliot learned a long time ago that she couldn't rely on her dead beat dad for anything, and so she decided she would work for herself.
Elliot had a series of jobs over the years. First she worked at Ben's Auto shop, but eventually Ben decided he was too old to be fixing cars and sold the place to pay for retirement for him and his wife. Then Elliot worked as a cashier at a beauty boutique, but couldn't wrap her mind around the concept of 'fashion' and got fired. Next Elliot tried babysitting, but that didn't last long. Elliot found out the hard way that she didn't like kids. Landing Elliot where she was currently, a waitress at Glenn View Dinner. Named after the town of Glenn View.
Elliot liked her job, she got paid pretty well and her tips were good most nights. She liked the people and she had an employee discount on the best burgers in town. It wasn't as good as the Auto Shop, but it was good enough. Not to mention that sometimes she could get a shift with Elizabeth, and that was always fun.
