An hour had passed since Alex and Emily had taken Jules back to her room, where her son was fast asleep. The guests at the motel had gathered in the hall, feeling afraid and shaken by Mr. Harry's death. The staff were serving tea and coffee to help calm everyone’s nerves.
Emily and Alex sat on a large couch, surrounded by a young couple who were holding onto each other tightly. Across from them, a woman who had comforted Jules earlier was sitting with a young man who had been injured by the killer. His bandages were still visible on his leg.
The atmosphere in the room was tense, but with everyone coming together for support, they hoped to find comfort in each other during this difficult time.
The receptionist stepped into the waiting room, drawing all eyes towards him. He greeted everyone there and settled into an armchair facing them. "I know you may not trust me right now. But even if you don't, we need to work together to uncover the killer among us," he said softly.
"I agree. We owe it to ourselves to get to the bottom of this," the young man firmly said. Alex gave him a nod and replied, "You're right. But first, let's get to know each other a little better."
The young man stood up and introduced himself, "Alright, sure. Let me go first. I'm George Evans, a web developer. I was on my way to my parents' place in Saint John. I drove from Toronto and decided to stop here for a break after being on the road for six hours." With that, he settled back on the settee.
George was around 20 years old and his height was about 6 feet. He had blue eyes and was wearing casual clothes, a black hoodie with matching blue jeans and sneakers. His beard with no sideburns and a trimmed, floating moustache makes him even more attractive.
As George finished sharing his story, the woman beside him, raised her voice. "I’m Emma, and I work as a finance manager at Samson Company. I was on a much-needed vacation when my car suddenly broke down in the dead of night. Luckily, this motel was nearby, so here I am," she explained and settled back on the couch.
Emma's age was around 40 and her height seemed to be 5 feet 5 inches. She had brown eyes and was wearing a tea-length dress that was lavender in colour with matching kitten heels. Her perfect jawline makes her personality flawless.
Out of nowhere, a thought suddenly appeared in Emily's mind. "A few drops of blood will be discovered in the doorway of the Storage room. And I have a strong feeling that Evelyn will be the one to find it. And Evelyn is me now,"
Eager to contribute, a young man stood up and introduced himself and his wife. "I'm Jack Dylan, and this is my wife, Lily James," he began, as Lily clutched his arm in tension. Jack explained that they were on a road trip to Burlington and had planned to spend a couple of weeks at Lily's parents' house. The couple had also stopped at the motel to take a break, similar to George.
Jack and Lily were in their mid-20s. Jack has black eyes and he is in white and has a black stripe in his t-shirt and black jeans that match his sneakers. Lily has brown eyes and she wears pinkish red with a white polka dot jumpsuit and white sneakers.
Alex was about to explain why his character in 'Silent Killer of Motel' had come to this motel, but suddenly he remembered an important thing from this novel.
"Jules's son will start crying in pain when the lights flicker uncontrollably, and I'm worried because I don't know when it will happen. And I think this would be the last thing I remember about the novel because I read seventy per cent of the novel,"
The disclosure left Alex feeling uneasy, and Emily also seemed disturbed by the information which she just has recalled. Then everyone's eyes turned to them, curious to know about them.
"Alex, Emily, why don't you both introduce yourselves now?" George asked in a friendly manner.
"Yeah, okay I will introduce myself first. My name is Alex Smith and I am a--" Alex paused cause the lights in the waiting room started flickering erratically, causing panic among the group.
"Please calm down everyone. I think the lights were flickering unsettled by the worsening weather. I going to check to resolve the light problem," the receptionist said, turning on the flashlight in his phone and walking out of the waiting room.
One by one, they all switched on the flashlight in their phones. The flickering lights came to an end, leaving the room in darkness. Alex's heart pounded in his chest as he anticipated what would happen next.
Emily looked at Alex suspiciously, wondering if he had any prior knowledge of what was happening. She thought to herself, "Does Alex know something? I don't think he's reincarnated like me."
"AHHHHAEAHH, please don't do this to me,"
A little boy piercings screamed and begged to not do anything to him making everyone shudder. An unsettling hush fell between everyone in the room as they exchanged uneasy glances, each feeling a chill creep down their spine.
Emily got bewildered and thought "I should know about the upcoming occurrence and not what is going to happen after it."
Alex rose from his seat and strode towards the hall, with Emily following closely behind. George and Emma made the decision to join them, determined to know the reason behind the child's scream. However, a sense of nervousness held the young couple back, as they grappled with their fears and hesitations.
As Alex and Emily entered the hall, their eyes were immediately drawn to the little boy who was lying motionless on the floor. The boy was facedown, revealing only the back of his head, causing a sense of unease to wash over them. George and Emma followed closely behind them, their gaze quickly landing on the same scene. A wave of panic gripped them as they realized they too had witnessed the sight of a young boy lying on the ground.
"Is-s the killer has killed the poor innocent kid?" Emma said in a trembling voice.
“We need to find out what happened to him,” George said firmly. Alex, Emily and Emma followed her.
George took the little boy in his arms and saw no sign of the knife being stabbed in his stomach. He placed the little boy on a nearby sofa and sat beside him.
"Thank God, he's safe!" Emma exclaimed.
"I think the killer might be stalking him, and the little guy has a heart problem so he passed out," Emily said, stepping toward the couch.
George's lips became thin and firm, and said, "Then the killer must be hiding here!"
Stomp, stomp.
The sound of heavy footsteps reverberated through the hall, sending shivers down everyone's spine. Frantic whispers filled the air as everyone struggled with their flashlights to locate the mysterious figure.
Emily's heart pounded in her chest as her flashlight lighted up the broad back of a man who is in a black jacket, his presence created an eerie shadow across the walls.
