A groan escapes my worn throat as the lights that bleeds through my curtains spreads across my face. I try swatting my hand at the non-physical object, trying my best to bat the light away. I groan again and roll over onto my side, but the light just keeps filling up my room. Didn't I close the curtains last night before bed?

With a small glace at the window, I see that the blinds and curtains are drawn fully open. There was only one explanation as to why they were mysteriously open all of a sudden.

"Mom..." I grumble, "Why would you do this? It's the weekend!"

I hear a chuckle coming from my doorway. A rich and melodious voice, one sweeter than silver, seems to mock me. That voice, there's only one person in the entire world with that voice.

"Did you forget, sweetheart? Today is the entrance exams for UA, and since you refused the recommendation process, this is your last chance to get in~" mom coos gently. Her voice was a soothing as a flowing stream, but wakes me up like a bucket of ice.

"Ah!" I exclaim, "The entrance exams! How could I forget?!"

Mom chuckles once again, her laughter like a cool rain.

"I already made breakfast for you. You better hurry, or you might have to eat so fast, you'll throw up during the test!"

"Right!"

Mom pushes herself off the doorframe and walks down the hall towards the living room. I don't think I have time for a shower today. Besides, I'm going to work up a sweat today, might as well just take one when I get home, right? I quickly shut my door and quickly change into something more comfortable. A black tank top with a pair of cargo shorts and a pair of black socks that trail up to the middle of my calf.

Once I finish dressing, and applying some deodorant and body powder, I quickly make my way down stairs, nearly tripping as few times over my own feet. Taking my place at the table, I sit down and make quick work of my breakfast. I'm about to get up when mom stops me.

"Hold it, your hair?"

"What about my hair?"

Mom clears her throat, picking up a huge knot on the back of my head. She hums before grabbing a comb from a nearby vase that was filled with miscellaneous items, such as pens, pencils, and of course, combs.

"You're free to go as soon as I finish your hair."

"Mom..." I grumble.

"A lady and hero-in-training must always look presentable in front of others," she hums.

I sigh as she begins to comb through my knotted hair. I hiss and grunt slightly when she pulls a little too hard, which she quickly apologizes for.

"There, beautiful."

"Thanks, mom," I say, turning around and giving her a hug and kiss.

"You're very welcome."

I stand from my chair and head towards the door. I quickly slip on a pair of worn, black combat boots, lacing up the laces into a double knot. As stand after finishing, I look one last time at my mom. Her smile is warm, warmer than a summer shower, it looks like she's almost glowing.

"Bye, sweetheart... Good luck! And... I love you."

I smile genuinely back to her.

"I love you too."

-----

I make my way down to the train station with a bounce in my step. Excitement buzzes through my stomach, almost making me nauseous. It feels like I just took a whole bottle of caffeine pills, I just couldn't stop moving a buzzing, both inside and out.

Once I reach the station, I sit on a bench, waiting slightly impatiently for the train to arrive. I kick my legs up, letting the rubber of my heel bounce on the cement ground. There's really nothing to keep me entertained other than people watching, but that's kinda weird when I don't have my sketchbook. With a sigh, I continue to wait for the train to arrive.

After a few minutes of waiting, the train pulls up and allows me on board. I'm not lucky enough to find a seat, so I have to stand and hold onto one of the many metal bars that are strewn about the train car. I hold on tight, hoping to not get squished or thrown off balance.

In all honesty, I hate trains. They're loud, cramped, smelly, and always feels like someone is watching me or judging me. It's not like I don't obey the unspoken rules of the train; be quiet, be courteous, be cautious, be clean, be quick. And yet, I feel like people still think I'm not doing a good enough job.

Forty-five minutes pass before my station finally arrives. The train pulls up, and I, as quickly and quietly as possible, rush off the train. I ignore onlookers and judging glares from other passengers as I make my way towards the sidewalks that lead straight to UA.

Even from afar, the building is huge. Clean, shiny windows, multiple floors, if someone where not knowledgeable of this place, they might just think with was an office building.

As my eyes wander down from the building, I notice lots of people coming through the entrance. Many of them are students my age. Some are parents, and others are security and staff. I can't help but let out a stressed sigh escape my pouted lips. Today is going to be one of the most stressful days in my life, at least I hope. With one last breath, I make my way inside the large gates of the building.

My eyes kept wandering towards the large building in front of me, the shining window nearly blinding me from the shining sun's glare. It was so bright, in fact, I ran into someone. I reached out to grab them, but someone had already beaten me to it.

I swiftly take a deep bow in front of the two others.

"I would like to sincerely apologize!" I cry out, "I wasn't looking where I was going!"

The person I ran into, a boy with dark forest green hair waves his hands around, stumbling on his words.

"N-Not at all! Actually, I was already tripping on my own shoe-laces when you bumped into me! S-So please don't worry about it!"

I raise my head to see him more clearly. His eyes are just as green as his hair, as well as very wide. His face is a pinkish colour, though probably not naturally. His face is also spotted with cute freckles on his reddening cheeks. The boy then turns to the other person here, the person who saved him.

This was a round faced girl with big brown eyes and soft brown hair. Her eyes were as large as the boys and her face was very cute. Naturally blushing cheeks and a soft skin tone.

The green boy then takes a bow to the girl.

"Thank you so much for saving me, and thank you for attempting to save me," he says to both of us.

"Oh? It was nothing!" the brown haired girl says, a different kind of blush now forming across her face.

"Still thank you!" The boy blushes.

"You shouldn't be thanking me at all! I'm the one who bumped into you," I say, sheepishly while scratching the back of my neck.

"But you tried! That's more than enough!"

"Trying is the least someone can do to help someone," I say.

"Hmm... B-But still, thank you both! A-Anyway, let's head inside for the orientation! We don't want to miss it!"

The green haired boy turns and the brown haired girl both turn and start walking towards the doorway. I feel a little sad, being left behind again.

The girl turns around and waves me over.

"Come on, you! Let's go!"

A sudden fluttering enters my chest. I smile before picking up my pace to follow behind the two students.

Maybe... I won't be alone anymore...
