I'm not letting you go

A Brief Reunion

The Gadget family is settling into their temporary resting place with still no word from Quimby. Penny is quietly hoping that her uncle won't get a mission today. The snow outside is getting worse and even she has limits on how well she and brain can keep an eye on him when the weather gets this bad.

She's doing a puzzle at the table when she sees Quimby come out of hiding to give her uncle his next mission.

Gadget begins to read off the paper, "MAD has been seen in the outskirts of the snow village, for your mission, seek out their hidden base-"

Penny usually listened on, but her eyes kept drifting to the window. Outside almost looked pure white, she couldn't make out even a single shape on the outside. Her uncle has gotten pretty careless during the last few missions and that made her paranoia about his wellbeing get worse and worse. And the weather looking this bad, she didn't know how well she and Brain would be able to watch him.

Her train of thought was suddenly interrupted by the sound of a tiny explosion followed by the chief leaving.
Gadget turned around to think things over when Penny ran up to him.

"Uncle you're not actually going out there are you?" Penny asks looking up at him.

Gadget shook his head," Of course I am Penny, I never say no to a mission. Besides, it's just a little snow."

Penny walked in front of him before he walked out the door, "Uncle, please. I'm worried about you. Please promise me you'll be extra careful."

Gadget patted her head and turned back around to open the door. "I will Penny don't you worry. Brain will watch you while I'm gone."

Then he was gone. Penny went to look out the window and already saw her uncle was out of sight. She turned to Brain," Brain, I don't think we're gonna be able to keep an eye on him this time..."

Dr.Claw was already keeping an eye on things. He was corresponding with MAD agents and keeping an eye on all the cameras and drones he set up. Something struck him though. No sign of the Inspector. Claw was usually able to get sight of him moments after the idiot showed up on the scene. 'Idiot', Claw thought to himself. Years of this cat and mouse game and he still wasn't used to referring to Gadget in such demeaning ways. It felt good, but there was a strange tinge of guilt and anger behind it each time.

No matter, he continued trying to spy before giving up and focusing on the task at hand. If the inspector wasn't around surely that was good sign. That or he was really good at hiding. Something Claw didn't want to risk.

He entered a code on his computer that put him through to the nearest MAD agent. "Look out for Gadget. I know he's near our secret location and I can't risk that imbecile getting a hold of it." Claw said before changing the feed back to drones. All this high tech equipment and he could barely see through this blizzard.

Claw gets an alert immediately. He changes the feed again, this time showing the agent he contacted. "What is it, did you find him? Don't waste my time", Claw yelled.

"Boss we found him. Well a part of him", The agent answered.

'Part of him?", Claw thought puzzled. 

"Don't be so cryptic, what did you mean by 'part of him?'", Claw didn't want to admit it, but for a half second he thought somehow the wildlife got to Gadget. But as someone who had "very very" close encounters with Gadget before they became enemies, he knew Gadget was too much metal to be considered "appetizing" to any wolves.

"I mean that I saw his arm sticking out of the snow. I didn't wanna go near that thing, he could be-" As the mad agent continued Claw wasn't paying attention. He knew what the MAD agent was going to say.
