I'm sorry I took so long and I'm sorry in this chapter if I make Veneer sound like a baby or desperate 😭 It was not what I meant.

------------------------------------------

Veneer couldn't sleep.

He wasn't usually like this but he sat up in bed staring at his phone and at the time. It was a horrible feeling, not being able to get to sleep but this was different. He was scared. Scared of what might happen if he messed up on stage in front of everyone in roller-skates.

But most of all.. He didn't want to disappoint Velvet. She was his sister, he knew that she would do anything for him she told him that but..- again. This was different. Veneer had seen this size of the stage and it frightened him even on ground looking up at it. Velvet had told him, "There's nothing to be scared of." but even with her reassurance it gave him shivers.

He didn't want to be a "scaredy-cat" but obviously he couldn't help it. He quietly moved away the silky bed covers that lay on top of him and stood up. As he passed the mirror, he noticed what he looked like. He grimaced in disgust rubbing his eyes sleepily. His eyes were bloodshot from lack of sleep, his hair was everywhere over his eyes and tangled and his pyjamas were messy from the tossing and turning he had done in his desperate state to fall asleep. He shook his head, looking away and turned to doorknob quietly and snuck out. He didn't bother to close the door because then he'd wake someone up.

Tip-toeing quietly down the hall, he peered at every door until he found Velvet's bedroom door. Normally, he'd be told to leave but tonight he wanted comfort from her. She said, "If you ever need me, just come to my bedroom. But that is the only acceptance." This was the one time he needed her. Slowly and very quietly, the doorknob turned and Veneer snuck inside closing it behind him before quickly turning to see if she had woken. Luckily, she hadn't just yet but he'd need to in a few minutes. Again, he rubbed his eyes as they had become sore from him being awake too long. He would usually be fast asleep by now. Veneer snuck over to his sister's side and shook her arm whispering, "Vel..! Vel wake up!" She began to stir and finally blinked open her eyes, looking at him and sitting up a little.

"What..? What do you want?" Her eyes blinked slowly at him, squinting in the dark. He continued to whisper his words out. "Can I sleep with you..? I can't go to sleep by myself." She sighed and put her hand out. He took it and climbed in with her, Velvet wrapped her arms round her brother gently and placed her chin on his head. "Is there any reason why you want to sleep with me? This is new." Velvet asked him sleepily. Veneer didn't say anything.

She looked down at him, he'd already fallen asleep. She smiled slightly but then closed her eyes and fell back asleep.

------------------------------------------

Angel did some extra work on Veneer's face the next day. He was so tired and could barely keep his eyes open even if he tried too. He'd never been one to miss out on sleep so his body was adjusting to the lack of sleep. Velvet wasn't that bad, she'd only been awake for a couple minutes.

Crimp filled them in on what was in for schedule for the day; Trying on outfits, Nail appointments, Hair appointments. This was going to be the BIGGEST show they'd ever put on. Velvet and Veneer would be on every Mount Rageons screens, in their eyes and their voices in the ears for weeks. Veneer yawned as Crimp was explaining to them. His brain was like mush, he couldn't keep any of the information Crimp was saying in his head but that didn't matter, Angel would fill him in later. He leaned up against Velvet, resting his head on her shoulder and closing his eyes, waiting for Crimp to finish so he could go back to sleep.

After all the information was stuck to their brains, Crimp bounced out the room. Velvet pulled her brother upright so Angel could continue his makeup "How long were you up for?" She asked, studying his face, "I already told you not to be nervous. Everything will be okay, plus you've been on roller-skates before." Veneer's face was a complete mess of bags under his eyes. His usually pretty face looking a bit more dull due to being exhausted. He closed his eyes slightly so Angel could continue to work on his makeup as he tiredly looked up at Velvet with an expression that said 'Yeah right'.

"I know. Just forget about it please." He mumbled in a half-sleep state, his words sounding a little slurred due to how tired he was. He rubbed his eyes, forgetting Angel had just applied eyeshadow. Angel took his hand and then face and wiped the smudges off.

"Okay, but how long were you up for?" She still sounded sceptical. Veneer didn't want to tell her how long he'd been up for knowing she'd freak out. So he just shrugged casually, wincing slightly as Angel did his eye makeup, trying desperately not to move his eyes or fall asleep there. "Uh.... not that long." He lied, avoiding eye contact so she couldn't see through his lie.

"Then, why'd you come into my room at 2 in the morning?"

Veneer mentally cringed when she said that, knowing he wouldn't be able to get past out of this. He sighed in defeat and mumbled quietly. "Couldn't sleep.. and I didn't think that you would care-" Velvet looked at her brother, frowning slightly. "Look. I don't care. I don't mind but you need sleep okay?" Veneer, very carefully, turned his gaze to his sister and smiled a little. Veneer felt a little grateful that she didn't really mind that he came into her room. He let out another tired sigh and nodded in agreement, knowing she was right but just feeling too tired to care that he needed sleep. "Yeah... I know. I'll get some rest when I can-" He mumbled, having no plans on actually doing that until maybe after the show at best.

He tried his best to at least stay upright and not break his back so that Angel could finish his makeup and start on Velvet. Surprisingly, it wasn't too bad because it made him feel suddenly more awake. Angel continued his work on Veneer's makeup with a satisfied smile on his face. His makeup always came out so nice. Meanwhile Veneer found it easier to stay up since he was forced to keep his eyes open as well as being sat next to Velvet. His mind slowly started to wake up more as he looked over at Velvet as Angel started on her makeup. They sat in silence for an hour or so while Angel finished her off. The stylist spun their chair round and gave each a mirror smiling at his work.

"Perfect?"

"Perfect."
