Trigger Warning; Attempted Suicide

The night was quiet. Peaceful. Crickets were chirping their repetitive tunes, a gentle breeze was blowing, rustling the leaves of the surrounding trees. The only disturbance was the teenage boy running up the mountain path in the dead of night.

Percy was calm, at least externally. His heavy breathing was from running most of the way up Mt. Ebott. There were stories. Stories of how everyone who came up this mountain never returned. That's exactly what Percy wanted. He kept walking, carefully avoiding vines in the twilight when he reached a gaping hole in the ground. He took a deep breath in, then a deep breath out.

Did he really want to do this?

Yes, he thought. I've failed at everything else. This is the one thing I know I can't fail at! The boy's thoughts silenced, though, as he looked down. He couldn't see the bottom. Didn't know how far down it was. For all he knew, there'd be time to think while he fell. Time to regret his decision. Letting go of his fear, he leaned forward to embrace the open air.
