The Alexandria Academia of Magical Knowledge is the oldest wizarding school that is still standing to this day. Located near the infamous library of Alexandria, it used to coexist with the muggle school, but now is hidden under the ruins of the previous institute. It accepts students from 30 different countries, spanning the entire middle east, stretching as far from Morocco to Pakistan.
Unlike it's British counterpart, Alexandria divides it's students based off of five main capabilities: Potions, Dark Arts, Divination, Astronomy and Magizoology or Herbology. Additionally, the school houses are called 'Dytikis', from the Greek 'Dynitikós', the original language of the school, wich means 'potential'.
Gorgon House: This house is dedicated to the potion masters. Students here focus largely on the healing and therapeutic properties of potions and ingredients, with a particular emphasis on balancing the mind and body. They also work to understand the role potions played in ancient mythology and folklore, and study the ways in which they were used in daily life. The origins of the house name are currently unknown.
Boreas House: Boreas was the Greek god of the northern wind, and was associated with harshness, destruction, and death. Boreas is be a place of darkness and death, focused on the study of the most sinister and destructive aspects of magic. The students of Boreas focus on acquiring vast knowledge and experience in the Dark Arts, seeking out forgotten and forbidden spells and potions, and exploring the deepest and most dangerous aspects of magic.
Chronos House: Chronos was the Greek personification of time, and was often seen as a guardian of prophecies and omens. Chronos is a place of deep reflection and insight, with the students studying and attempting to predict the future with the help of potions and other magical ingredients and techniques. In the past, they would also look to the deities and supernatural beings of the folklore, and try to understand the ways in which divination could be used to gain knowledge and insights into upcoming events.
Asteros House: Asteros was the Greek personification of a star. Asteros House is a place focused on stargazing and astronomical observations, with the students working to learn more about the night sky and its various celestial objects. It's a place where students experiment with astrology, alchemy, and other methods of observing and interpreting the movements and locations of stars and constellations.
Pan House: Pan was the Greek deity of the forests and nature, and is often seen as the source of wild creatures and plants. Pan house is a place of study for students interested in both the living things of the world, particularly rare and magical ones, and the magical properties of ingredients and plants. The students focus on exploring and discovering rare and often unseen creatures and plants, and study the ways in which they were linked to magic and spells.
Each student, regardless of their house, is required to attend all classes, until their fourth year of school. Here, each student will have to continue taking all the regular courses, but with particular emphasis on their 'Dytikos subject', wich is the field in wich their specifies in.
In their fifth year, students are no longer required to take all courses, but dropping most classes is highly unrecommended by professors.
The school was founded in the III A.C. by Eurydice, (Greek wizard and philosopher that had come to study in Egypt) under the request of of Ptolemy I.
