A Pleasant Garden

Chapter 1

"Come on! Come on!"

I could only sigh as I was dragged by my best friend, Hop. He's allways forcing me to go outside and socialize. My mom makes me spend time with him because "He helps me be a normal kid." Today, we are going to the cinema to see a movie Hop has been wanting to see.

I had to stop and get cash from an atm. Hop, of course, couldn't stop himself and kept running towards the movie theatre anyway.

"Yeah... in a second..."

I turned around in his direction, ready to go back to him, only for my foot to bump into something. It's a golden kricketot faced down on the pavement.

"Huh? A kricketot? In Galar?" As I said this, the kricketot jumped up, startled. "Um... hello..." It frantically made a lot of noise seemingly trying to talk to me.

"Hey, what'chu got there?" Hop came over to investigate. "Wow! When did you catch a kricketot?! I'm so jealous!"

"It's not mine..."

"That makes sense, kricketot aren't native to the Galar region. We should look for it's owner." After it heard Hop say this, it ran away from us. "Quick let's follow it!"

"Ah... why?" I'm not much of a runner. He grabbed my hand and forced me to chase after it with him.

We ended up cornering it in an alleyway. Hop was the only one not on the floor catching his breath.

"Haha, gotcha!" He wrestled with it until it gave up on trying to escape us. "Who do you work for?!"

"Um... it passed out..."

"Oh, guess I got too carried away. We should go to Officer Jenny and see if anyone has reported it missing."

"There have been no reports of a missing kricketot, it was probably abandoned by its trainer. You should take it with you, it looks like it's already warming up to you!"

I looked over at the kricketot... It was still out cold with foam coming out of its mouth, twitching slightly. It looks dead.

"I'll let you know if anything comes up." Officer Jenny said as she wrote down our contact information. What have I gotten myself into?...

"Good idea! I think you should take it Pea. I already have Wooloo, this can be your first partner, plus it's a shiny!" Hop started trying to shove the kricketot into my arms.

"What if my mom doesn't approve?..."

"I'll convince her. She loves me!"
