Lucifer and Vox didn't overstay their visit with Velvette. They left in silence, Velvette refusing to look at either of them as they departed. Just as Vox stepped through the door however, she turned to face him.

"I won't tell Valentino that you've been here. He'll find out anyway, but not from me. And…. I definitely won't tell him about whatever you two have going on here…. "

"Thank you," Vox answered, a smile rising to his face.

"Don't you ever. I still hate you. You're selfish, conceited, and downright stupid. You can't run from him for long. He'll find you, and when he does, you'll have hell to pay. And with all the shit you've pulled, you deserve as much."

"But you won't tell him?" Vox cocked his head to the side, as Velvette shook hers. "Why?"

"Because I'm not your nanny. It's not my job to care about you." She slammed the door in Vox's face, locking it afterwards. The tv demon hung his head, making sure his back was towards Lucifer.

"Vox.... I'm sorry that happened."

"It wasn't you. That was just Velvette, being Velvette. She um, doesn't really understand."

"You could tell her the truth, despite everything, I think she'd listen to the whole thing if you'd just-"

"No, I'm not going to subject her to that! And even if I told her.... She wouldn't be in touch with my words. She couldn't even comprehend such brutality. She'd probably laugh in her own ignorance. Honestly, that went pretty well, she has every right to believe such things. She's.... right. I am a coward, and I deserve every shitty thing hell has served me, Valentino just happens to be the worst thing."

"It doesn't matter if you deserve it or not. It's not right, and it's doing you more harm than good." Lucifer cupped Vox's face with his hand. "And I think you've changed a lot just over the past week, despite.... everything. Maybe you just needed a good example."

"Maybe....."

"Let's go now—"

"Wait.” Vox grabbed Lucifer's wrist, and though his touch was gentle, his icy fingertips sent a shudder through the fallen angel's body. "What about my end of the deal? I was going to get you on the news."

"You're not up for it, so we're going back, period. We can do it some other time."

"This could be our last chance! Though I hate to admit it, Val will find out we were here, even if we don't appear on the news, he'll just know, because he's so paranoid, he'll start questioning employees, and finally torture someone into confessing. I have to do this."

"No, you need to relax, not work." Lucifer took Vox's hand. "It'll be better for both of us."

"That wasn't the deal, though.... God, am I so useless I can't even keep it together for a broadcast?"

"Take a deep breath, everything will be fine. And you're not useless just because you need a break."

"I've been taking a break, and if I don't start working I won't.... I.... "

"’You won't’ what?"

"Let's just say I know what happens when someone's use expires. Anyway, we should get to the recording room. We need to get out of this place as soon as possible."

"But you're not–" Lucifer stopped himself, his large, round eyes suddenly widening. "Vox, you might not have to broadcast today after all. I just might have the answer to our problem."

"What is it?"

"The only thing we really need is the equipment, right?"

"That and a camera crew."
