CHAPTER ONE
In the palace of Enetiti kingdom princess Amara was seen sanding and watching some guards that are doing some various work. Although, many people dislike her for her proudness and heartlessness. She was the only daughter of her father ( the king). She also had only one brother which is her elder brother named prince CHUKWUDI.
Princess Amara received a call from her friend. She was reminded of the outing they are going to. As soon as she ended the call, she called out one of the guards whose name is CHIDI to prepare her one of her father's car as she went inside to change. Few minutes later, AMARA came out from the palace she was already dressed up. As she was about going into the car which was already cleaned by CHIDI, she saw a very little stain on the car she stopped and called for Chidi
" Chidi!!" She shouted his name
" My princess" he answered
" Were you not the one that cleaned up this car?" She asked angrily
" Yes my princess" he answered with fear
Before we know it she gave Chidi a hot slap and showed him the stain on the car
" Look at what you said you clean, my friend come and clean it properly" she said as she went into the car waiting for Chidi to clean up the little stain on the car. As soon as Chidi done cleaning the car, he told the princess that he is done cleaning it. Then, she told the driver to move and they zoomed off.
CHAPTER TWO
Prince CHUKWUDI was know as a gentle and respectful prince. He always correct his younger sister for her attitude. He always warned her to stop treating people like animals but she wouldn't listen. And she was always warned by her parents ( the king and the queen).
One day, princess Amara was on her way home when she saw two men arguing. She told the driver to stop the car. She came out of the car and went straight to the men. She asked them the reason why they were shouting at their selves, the first man answered
" My princess, this man has been owing me for so long now and he has refused to pay me back my money" replied the first man
" Is that true?" Princess Amara asked the second man
" My princess, it's true I'm owing him and I have been pleading for more time" he replied
" How much is the money?" She asked
" 5000 naira my princess" the first man replied
" So you mean you have been here, shouting on top of your voice just because of 5000 naira?( To the second man) and you, why did you borrowed money and you refuse to pay back the money? " She asked proudly
" Emm....mm... my princess I will pay back the money, all I am asking for is time" the replied. Princess Amara told one of the guards to bring her a sum of 5000 naira and gave it to the first man. The second man was very Happy until when the princess said
" ( To the second man) you are going to follow me to the palace. You will work for five good days. After then, you will go back to wherever you came from.
" ( Cut in) my princess, don't do that" he pleaded
" You won't follow me to the palace on one condition" she replied proudly
" What is the condition my princess?" He asked
" I will wait here for you to bring me back my money within thirty minutes" she replied proudly.
The man has no option than to follow her to the palace.
CHAPTER THREE
Prince CHUKWUDI and his younger sister were having a discussion at the backyard of the palace when a man called snake came to the palace to see the king. He asked of the king but unfortunately, the king was not around so he decided to see the prince instead. One of be guards went to tell the prince that there is someone that demand his attention. The prince went immediately to see the man, princess Amara also followed him.
" My prince, tell your father the king that I, snake, came here to tell him or to ask him that has he forgotten what we had some years ago? " He said
" And what exactly is that?" The prince asked
"My prince, it's none of your business" he replied
Before we know it, princess Amara gave him a hot slap and told the guards to lock him up but her brother stopped him.
" How dare you talk to my brother like that? Don't you have respect for royalty?" She asked angrily
Meanwhile, snake was know as a tug in the kingdom of Enetiti. Twenty three years ago, the Queen gave birth to a baby girl but unfortunately the baby girl died in the hospital. The king kept the queen in the hospital until when the will get another baby girl. No one knows about this except from the doctor. That same year, snake wife gave birth to a baby girl who happens to be Amara but she eventually died after giving birth. The king heard about it and called snake to his Palace. He told snake to sell off the baby for him which snake agreed.The king promised to be paying him monthly which he kept to his promise until four months ago that the king stopped sending him money. It was the money he came to collect from the king. Prince CHUKWUDI begged snake for his sister's wrong action. He became angry and threatened to bring down the royal family.
CHAPTER FOUR
In the evening of that same day, when the king and the queen came back from where they went to, prince CHUKWUDI explained what happened earlier before their arrival and what snake said. The king immediately sent for snake. He came back to the palace and the King apologized to what Amara did to him.
" I don't understand what you told the prince when I was not around" said the king
" For the past 4 months now, you haven't give me anything" snake replied
" I'm tired of all of that, I can't continue to waste my hard earn money on unnecessary things" the king replied
" Then get ready for war, I am here to collect the money but if you refuse to give me then I will.....
" ( Cut in) short up your mouth ( angrily) we are talking about your daughter here ( on a low voice) you should be thanking me for taking care of her, look at her, she is looking pretty everyday. Can you afford the money I spend on her every day? The king asked angrily
" Then I am going to lie against you that you killed my wife and took away my daughter" as he was about walking away, the king Drew him back and hit his staff on his head and he died. The king immediately called two of the guards and they carried his corpse through the backyard into the car and went to dispose his body. The king forced the guards to take a oath never to tell anyone about what happened. Since then, calamities befell the land. The gods became angry. People began to die, the kingdom lack peace and unity. The king fell sick. Difference herbalist were invited to the palace but no one has cure for the sickness.
The king eventually died and the prince was crowned the new king.
CHAPTER FIVE
The suffering was too much for the villagers and the King to bear. The king called for the chief priest to consult the gods for solution. The chief priest told the king that the problem was from the palace. The king asked that what could that be?
" The gods are angry because those people he trusted the most betrayed him and turned his land upside down" said the chief priest
" I don't understand you, can you make it clearer for us?" The king asked
" Before the death of our king, he has committed so many atrocities which make the gods to became angry" replied the chief priest
" What could my father have done that will make the gods to became angry" the king asked
" The queen here knows everything except for one thing" replied the chief priest
"( To his mother) mother, what is he talking about? The king asked
" You better start confessing before the wroth of the gods befall you " said the chief priest
" Actually, Amara here is not actually our daughter. We adopted her from the man called snake. She is snake daughter. I'm really sorry for all that happened " the queen confess.
Amara became weak as she heard that. Her arrogance left her
" That's is not all, it's remain one hidden secret that all of you know nothing about " the chief priest said
" And what is that?" The king asked
" The guards here knows about it ( to the guards) start speaking if you want your life "he said
They become afraid, one of them confess.
" My King, snake was killed by the king " he confess
" What! How? When? Why?" The king asked
" I don't know what came up between them but all I know is that, the king killed him and asked us to dispose his body" he replied.
Immediately he confess, he received a hot slap from an invisible hand and he started bleeding, a minute later, he died.
" Why did he die?" The king asked
" The were under a oath never to tell anyone about it? The chief priest enlightened him.
The chief priest explained everything thing that happened among the late king and snake. King Chukwudi was shocked to here that Amara was not his younger sister. Amara begged the king and the chief priest not to chase her away from the palace but the gods refuse to let her stay. She has to leave the palace. She became a laughing stock among the villager, she was given a house to live since he has no family. her pride and arrogance would not allow her to obtain mercy from the gods.
