Chapter 1 summary- We learn about part of the town folklore with the sun and moon. Enter Nick a guardian angel who protects a few souls before talk of a demon catches his attention. Not that he cared, his book updated!
Nick found himself on the run. How? Well apparently he hadn't been invited to the little gossip session. So now he had rumors spreading about him...and a crowd of feminists who have since decided he was a predator merely for looking over at the wrong time. Was that a bad description? Well he didn't have time to dwell on it as something flew past his head.
"Was...was that a lipstick?!"
More objects whizzed past him as he ran. The yelling behind him ever present as he pumped his arms with his legs. Speed wasn't a problem usually for Nick...but when trying to not blow your cover it became one real fast. Eyes scanning the path as he weaved through the crowded side walk.
"Excuse me! Pardon me! Look out!!"
A small speck of light caught his attention and before he knew it he was thrown into an alleyway into a pile of garbage. A hand covering his mouth to stop any attempts at fighting off this unknown captor. As Nick panted into their hand he took a moment to let his head calm. The shouting loud as he heard the group looking for him. But that didn't concern him as much as his eyes focused on the female above him. Oh great...maybe she had been after him too. She stared off at the opening of the alleyway, huddled down close enough to keep the two of them hidden he assumed. Her soft brown hair almost fully in his face from their proximity to each other. He didn't mind yet as he didn't sense danger, plus she didn't smell bad- wait...that sounded really creepy. He scolded himself mentally at the thought and focused on her other features. Delicate and yet worn skin, green cargo pants and an oversized shirt, hair styled and a little longer than shoulder length....and a hint of vanilla. Her head snapped in his direction swiftly almost reading his thoughts as she pulled her hand off of his mouth. Apologizing as she did.
"I'm so sorry, didn't mean to suffocate you" she whispered.
Greedy breaths grasped his body as he had barely come to recognize his need for air. Funny how that seemed to happen. Almost like a cliché straight from one of his novels.
"That's alright- you aren't going to beat me up are you?" Nick spoke after taking a moment to catch his breath.
She seemed surprised as her eyes widened. The color finally visible to him as he stared up into her green eyes. She was fairly good looking, not that he cared about looks.
She started to speak before the words registered. "Good heavens no. I don't plan on causing you anymore damage than I already have."
"Oh good" He retorted.
Helping himself up as she moved to give him room.
"Well since you're alright now I'll take my leave." She paused and watched him. "I just couldn't stand by to watch you 'attacked' for no reason. Honestly the whole 'feminist' thing is stupid. Careful what you say around who you say it"
Nick chuckled as he stood up straight. Somewhat cleaner, or well as clean as he was going to get after being tackled into a garbage heap.
"Well I appreciated it" he thanked. "The names Nick, if we ever happen to run into each other. I'll have to repay you"
She smiled. "Lonnie. Nice to meet you Nick and yeah sounds good. I recommend using the alleys other exit to avoid the women"
