"You have a horrible track record-" I sat down and stared the person across from me down
"What about it- what specifically stands out" I asked them, not breaking my gaze"A 1.2 Grade point average- that's mostly straight D's" the person said
"It's a lookout tower- what's a GPA have to do with it" I'd say raising and eyebrow.
"Look if you want this job-" the person said
"I do-" I intrupted.
"You have a history of violence- 3 years in prison for assault- you aren't even 18 yet-" the interviewer said forcing me to take a deep breath. "That's- one time" I said trying to defend myself as the interviewer paged through my file
"Job at convenience store- fired after assaulting a customer-" the interviewer said as I paused
"It was a misunderstanding-" I tried to explain
"You assaulted a man in broad daylight- I mean look at the records, Burger Mayor, Cashiers , two weeks- fired after bludgeoning a man's head into a cash register-" the interviewer countered and glanced me up and down
"I uh- I have no defense for that one-" I say quieting down. The interviewer sighed "and you come to me- park manager of all the Lookout towers,why-" he asked as he leaned back in his chair
"I uh- thought I'd be better off- in a firewatch tower- it's alone- I'm not going to have to interact much-" I'd said fiddling with my hands,
The interviewer nodded at me "you clearly can't- uh- well do anything- social" he said
"But outside that- why should I hire you-" he said staring me down
"Look- it's a firewatch job- how hard can it be"
I said raising my voice a little as the interviewer paused"Just a fire-watch job-" the Interviewer trailed off before starting up again "can you work nights?" He asked and eyed me up and down.
"Yeah- I can work night" I said, shifting in my seat.
The interviewer glanced me up and down
"You can start tomorrow" he said getting up and wiping himself off "Welcome to Oakside Parkwatch- and tomorrow- bring a gun"
