I stood there completely stunned from the words he had just said to me. There was no way I wanted to be a werewolves slave. Especially one that was rumored to have killed many people before me.

I glanced toward Sterling, who looked as though he was ready to rip all three of the werewolves heads off. He pushed at a blonde one in front of him, trying to bust through, but there was no way it was going to happen for him. The Weres had a lot more strength than he did.

“So, are you going to answer me?” He hadn't taken his eyes off of me.

“There is no way she is going to stay with you.” I could hear Sterling yelling and fighting at the others, but the leader didn't take his eyes off me.

“If I did, you would help protect the others?” I raised an eyebrow as I spoke.

“Yes, but you'll have to tell me where they are.”

“You'll have to earn that.” I looked back to Sterling again. “He needs protection on his trip back home. There was a vampire following us when we came down here.” I met the werewolves dark eyes and continued. “If you can promise me that, then we have a deal.” I could still hear Sterling’s freak out from where I was. “I need to talk to him, alone.”

The were eyed me for a moment before backing away. “Gabe, Brian,” He yelled their way.

Sterling was next to me in a second after they moved. “You are not seriously entertaining this idea, are you?” His face was red in anger.

“If it means keeping the rest of us alive, then yeah.”

“You can't trust them. They've killed people.”

“The vampires have killed more. They can protect the rest of us. Besides, I'm not exactly helpless.” I cocked my head and raised my eyebrows.

“Tick, tock. This deal isn't going to last forever.” The werewolf chimed over Sterling’s shoulder.

“They'll take you deeper in their culture than you have ever been before.” He glanced back to the werewolves. “Just remember what side you're on.”

I watched the blond were, Gabe, walk away with one of my closest friends. Somehow I figured he'd be alright.

“Gabe will listen to what I tell him. Your friend will be safe.” He fell into a stride beside me and I tried to force myself not to look at him. It didn't work. He was taller than me and there was something about him that made me not care about what he was, but who he could be.

“It's not Sterling I worry about.” I glanced away after I spoke. I thought I caught a smile on the werewolves face when I looked away. “Who are you, anyway?”

“My name's Ryan. I took over the leadership of the pack when one of your kind killed him.” He kept up easily and Brian, the black haired werewolf that had been holding Sterling back not long ago, followed behind.

“Why the interest in me, then?” He didn't answer. He just kept walking.

“We're almost there.”

All I could see was an empty desert landscape in front of us, but maybe in the distance, there was something. I couldn't tell what it was, not yet.

“I don't see anything,”I countered.

“You don't have my vision,” He snorted.

I made a face but kept walking, wondering what was going to happen when I showed up at Werewolf headquarters. They sure wouldn't be welcoming.
