When I was Brave

Friday's POV
The lights flickered as I walked across the dark, dusty hallway. "Friday," declared Ian "Melanie is afraid of the dark we need to get her quick!" I nod. How did I get into this mess. "Follow me," I whisper. We stalked the hallway like cats catching their prey. My eyes darted from left to right. Once we reached the end I could hear hushed voices. I pressed my ear against the cold stone wall... it was the housemistress.

Ian and I made eye contact and tiptoed up the stairs. "Friday," Ian hissed "I hear whimpering coming from the attic." I gulp, then glance at him knowingly. I knew I had to face my fears and save my best friend.

Once we reached the top of the stairs I gulped. "You know, I can do this alone, you don't have to come," Ian whispers "No, I need to face my fears and save my friend," I answer stubbornly Ion rolled his eyes and continued sighed "Ok" the We looked above us, seeing a hatch.

"Ian give me a leg up." I demand He nods and goes on one knee. I use him to help myself up and push the hatch. I heard a click, then I pushed harder. It slid open and I slipped through. Ian followed me then closed the hatch leaving it lightly ajar. "Melanie." I hiss. "Is that you Friday?" asked a bewildered Melanie "Yes it is me, Friday Barnes," I reply calmly.

I hear an excited squeal in the distance. I shone my torch across the floor while carefully crossing the wooden beams. Once I reached Melanie, she envelopes me in a tight hug. Hand in hand we both cross together I felt uneasy in a small, confined, space, but I'm happy that I Saved my one and only best friend.

We managed to reach our dorm without getting caught. I felt safe in my bed, away from Ms. Monty's watchful eyes. I felt brave and proud that I saved my friend. I felt brave and proud that I conquered my fears and saved my friend. It was surprisingly fun, but that was it for one night, and I'm not doing another adventure anytime soon.
