"You know Ryder will be okay, he'll work it out." I hear Archer from behind me.
"I know I just don't want him to do something he regrets."
"Fair enough."
"Maybe I should go talk to Molly." I suggest.
"I don't think Ryder would be very happy about that." He says warily and I knew he was right.
If Ryder saw me talking to her he'd probably kill me but I couldn't just watch him do nothing.
"I know, but this is too painful to watch." I begin to walk towards the group of girls before Archer can respond.
They see me approaching as they look at me warily.
"Hey, I'm Summer." They remand quiet so I continue, "I was wondering if I could speak to Molly."
"Why would you want to speak to me?" She says in a rather rude tone.
I'm a bit taken back but soon recollect myself.
"It's about Ryder."
"I don't care."
"Well I do, whatever my idiotic brother did I know he's sorry. He's been beating himself up all morning about it and I hate to see him hurt."
"Wait your his sister."
I look at her confused. Who did she think I was?
"Yes?"
One of her friends begins to crack up laughing while Molly's face heats up in embarrassment.
"I'm such an idiot." Molly mumbles to herself.
Before she can answer me I hear a loud beep as I turn around and see a familiar black car.
What was he doing here?
I see him get out of the car with 2 other boys as he scans the area.
His eyes land on me as a smile appears on his face.
"If it isn't Ms Young." He yells from the car making people turn their attention towards me.
God this was embarrassing.
He doesn't wait for his friends as he walks up to me grinning.
"I see you couldn't stay away from me and you look cute."
"I was here before you." I say ignoring his other statement
"Don't make excuses." he teases as I frown.
He pokes me cheeks as I hit his hand away making him laugh.
"Who are these guys, did you make friends without me." He says diverting his attention to Molly's group of friends who seem to be looking at Jack with desire and admiration.
"Just some girl business."
"What kind of girl business?"
"Like periods and shit." I shrug but he gave me an unconvinced look, "Fine I'll tell you later, just go away."
"Okay, I need to grab some stuff out of my car anyway." He says walking away while I roll my eyes.
"Sorry about that, continue with what you were saying before."
"How do you know Jack Gilinsky?" One of her friends say ignoring my request.
"We've been enemies since kindergarten now continue." I say getting irritated.
"You guys sure don't look like enemies to me." Another one says.
"Ugh I give up just go make up with my brother I don't like seeing him upset." I say before walking off but before I can get too far I see Ryder making his way towards me with a pissed off expression.
Shit.
My eyes widen as I quickly turn and run the opposite direction.
"Summer get here now or I swear!" He yells but I ignore him trying to find somewhere to hide.
I soon find myself in the car park as Jack sees me and looks at me confused.
"What are you doing."
"Can't talk ... need to hide... Ryder will kill me." I say out of breath.
Wow I really needed to start exercising.
"Get under my car."
I look at him like he's crazy.
Was that even safe?
It's either that or face Ryder.
I quickly duck under neither as I hear loud footsteps while I hold my breath in hop he won't hear me.
"Did you see where she went?" I hear Ryder ask Jack.
"Not a clue."
"Jack I swear if you know-"
"Dude I said I didn't if I did I would tell you." Jack reassures.
"Fine whatever, if you see he tell her we need to talk."
I hear his footsteps fade away but I don't move until I know that it's safe for me to come out.
"It's all clear." I hear Jack say as I pull myself out from underneath the car, "What was the about?"
"I talked to the girl he likes." I tell him while brushing the dirt off my clothes.
"Oh?"
"Yeah but apparently they're having problems and he made it clear that he didn't want me to know before but I couldn't help myself." I shrug.
"Of course you couldn't." He laughs.
"So who'd you come here with?" I ask playing with my hands.
I didn't know why but their was an obvious tension in the air and I just hope Jack didn't feel it to.
"Friends from a different school."
"Fun."
"Yeah."
"Anyway I should probably get going before Ryder finds me." I say beginning to walk off.
"Do you want a ride?"
"What about you're friends."
"I'm sure they can find someone to drop them home."
I debate with myself whether or not to accept the offer but in the end I agree.
"Sure."
