Chapter Two: Snowy Streets

I walk out of the cafe at 5:00 PM, and try to start up my car. Just like this morning, it doesn't want to start. But unlike this morning, it doesn't start up. 

"Come on!" I yell at my steering wheel, "Ughhhh!" My head falls, and thunks on the wheel. "I can't deal with this today...!"

I open the car door, and a gust of wind blows my white and blue scarf off my neck into the distance. 

"WHAT DOES THE WORLD HAVE AGAINST ME?!" I yell. I storm off, the white powdery snow fluttering around me with each step I take. I don't know where I'm going, but I've started walking into the middle park.

"Hey, are you ok, Y/N?" a familiar voice asks

I look up, and wipe away the tears I never noticed were in my eyes. It's Fanny.

"What are you doing here?" I ask. She's sitting on a snow-covered bench looking at me concerned.

"I usually come here at around 5. But you didn't answer me. Are you ok?"

I walk over and sit next to her.

"Not really..." I sigh

"Is there anything I can do to help?"

"I don't think so...My car broke down, and I lost my scarf"

"You mean this scarf?" She pulls out a white-and-blue scarf from her bag. I grab it and carefully wrap it back around my neck

"Here, let me help with that." Fanny pulls the last bit of the scarf around me to secure it. I blush and hold the scarf close to my chest

"Are you ok?" Fanny tilts her head, and lays a hand on my shoulder

"What- oh yeah, I'm ok. Could I um..."

"Could you what...?"

"Could I...could I get your number?"

"Oh, yeah, sure!" She grabs her phone and holds it out for me. I type in my number, and she does the same for me. "So...would you wanna...I don't know, go it the ice skating rink tomorrow, or something?" She blushes

"YES! I mean, yes! What time?"

"How about 1:00?"

"Tomorrow's a Saturday, so sure!"

"Great! It's a date! See you tomorrow!" She gets up and starts walking away

"A-a date?" I stutter

She doesn't answer, but she looks back and smiles at me, before turning around a tree
