The dim and foreboding expanse of the Northern Frontier provided a fitting backdrop for Hacker's mounting frustration. He paced back and forth in the Grim Wreaker's interior, his footsteps echoing off the cold, metallic walls. Shadows danced ominously in the flickering light of the overhead lamps, amplifying the tension in the air.
Nearby, Buzz and Delete exchanged uneasy glances, their eyes darting back and forth between their boss and the darkened corners of the lair. The hum of the Wreaker's machinery provided a constant, unsettling soundtrack to Hacker's agitated state, as he muttered under his breath, planning his next move.
What are you going to do now, Boss?” Delete finally asked, breaking the silence.
“You’re not just gonna give up, are you?” Buzz added, his voice tinged with worry.
“Hacker paused, casting a withering look at his two henchmen. “Give up? Of course not! I’ve simply hit… an unexpected obstacle.”
He sank into his chair, leaning back with a heavy sigh, his thoughts drifting back to the sequence of events that had brought him to this point. It had begun years ago when he attempted to infect Motherboard with a virus, aiming to cripple Cyberspace and assert his dominance. However, his ambitions were swiftly thwarted by the intervention of the Cybersquad.
He recalled how he had kidnapped Dr. Marbles, hoping to use him as leverage against Motherboard. To his surprise, Motherboard had defied his expectations by bringing the Cybersquad into Cyberspace to rescue the esteemed scientist.
Their journey had led them to the Southern Frontier, an island programmed to turn itself inside out after sunset. It was a treacherous landscape, filled with traps and obstacles designed to test the resolve of anyone who dared to venture there.
Despite the dangers, the Cybersquad had pressed on, determined to save Dr. Marbles and thwart Hacker's nefarious plans. With quick thinking and teamwork, they overcome every challenge thrown their way, eventually rescuing Dr. Marbles and putting an end to Hacker's scheme.
Since that fateful day, the Cybersquad had been a thorn in Hacker's side, constantly foiling his plans and protecting Cyberspace from his malicious intentions. The memory of that day only fueled Hacker's fury, his expression twisting into a grimace of anger.
Just then, the metallic clank of approaching footsteps echoed down the corridor, drawing Hacker’s attention. Turning, he spotted Ledge entering, his silhouette imposing against the dim light. The look on Ledge’s face was a mixture of frustration and determination as he approached.
"Ledge,” Hacker sneered, his tone dripping with contempt. “What do you want?”
"Oh, just thought I'd drop by and see how my favorite villain is doing," Ledge remarked casually. "By the way, thanks for the delightful time you gave me when you left me behind in Radopolis."
Hacker whirled around to face Ledge, his eyes narrowing suspiciously. "What do you want, Ledge? Can't you see I'm busy?”
Ledge offered a nonchalant shrug. “Just thought I’d check in. I hear the Cybersquad’s giving you a rough time,” he remarked, ignoring Hacker’s glare. “Again.”
Hacker’s eyes narrowed his gaze like daggers. “You came all this way to mock me?"
Ledge ignored the jab, stepping closer, his expression shifting to something more serious. “I’ve been thinking,” he began, voice steady. “You’ve been doing the same thing over and over – try, fail, repeat – and the Cybersquad keeps beating you. Maybe it’s time for a different approach.”
Buzz and Delete exchanged confused glances, uncertain of where Ledge was heading. Hacker, though, leaned forward slightly, intrigued despite himself. “And what do you have in mind, exactly?”
With a mixture of trepidation and determination, Ledge cautiously approached Hacker, his eyes fixed on the brooding figure before him. “I couldn't help but overhear your frustration," he began tentatively, carefully choosing his words. "I may have an idea that could turn the tables in our favor.”
Hacker's gaze narrowed, skepticism evident in his expression. "And what might that be exactly?” He sneered, his tone laced with cynicism.
Ledge’s eyes gleamed as he leaned in, speaking in a lower tone. “Simple. We don’t just outwit the Cybersquad; we erase them from the game entirely. Go back to the start – before they ever set foot in Cyberspace.”
Buzz and Delete exchanged puzzled glances, uncertainty evident in their eyes as they struggled to grasp Ledge's proposal. “But… how does that work?” Delete furrowed his brow.
“Think about it,” Ledge said, his grin widening as he outlined the plan. “If we travel back and keep those kids from ever meeting Motherboard, there’s no Cybersquad to get in our way. No one to meddle in our plans.”
Buzz's eyes widened with excitement. “No Cybersquad? That’s… That’s genius!”
Delete nodded in agreement. "Yeah! With the Earth-kids out of the picture, Cyberspace will be ours for the taking!”
Hacker’s initial skepticism faded, replaced by a glint of newfound interest. “Go back in time… alter history,” he muttered, almost to himself. Then he looked up at Ledge, a wicked grin spreading across his face. “I must admit, Ledge, this idea has potential. But how do you plan to pull off time travel?”
Ledge’s grin grew bolder. “Simple. We’ll build a device powerful enough to tear through the fabric of time itself. All we need is a little... creativity.”
Hacker’s smile grew, tinged with admiration for Ledge’s audacity. “Very well. Let’s make this happen.”
Ledge beamed with pride, a sense of accomplishment swelling within him as he basked in Hacker's praise. "Thank you, Hacker. With your brilliance and my ingenuity, there's no telling what we can accomplish." He declared, his confidence unwavering.
Hacker nodded in agreement, his mind already racing with the possibilities that Ledge's plan presented. "Indeed, Ledge. Together, we will rewrite history and ensure that the Cybersquad is never a thorn in our side again.”
With renewed determination, Hacker turned to his henchmen, his eyes burning with resolve. "Buzz, Delete, prepare the time machine. We have a date with destiny.”
Buzz and Delete exchanged excited glances, practically bouncing on their feet. “You got it, boss, we’ll get right on it!” Buzz exclaimed, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.
“Yeah, we’ll start gathering parts!” Delete added.
Hacker waved a dismissive hand. “Go. Get whatever Ledge needs. And don’t come back empty-handed.”
Buzz and Delete scurried off, leaving Hacker and Ledge alone in the shadowy lair. As they began to finalize the details, a tense anticipation filled the air.
As they worked together to bring their vision, a sense of anticipation filled the air, their minds focused on the monumental task that lay ahead. The path ahead was full of risk, but if they succeeded, they’d be unstoppable. This was more than a scheme; it was the ultimate plan, one that would finally rid them of the Cybersquad and give Hacker total control of Cyberspace.
