(note: i got back the energy to write this again because jaehyun's album made me want to write again aaahk. the concept really does fit his character in this book. i saw the vision omygod. anyway i hope this short chapter is enough to fill you in from my hiatus)

jaehyun slid the door open, an evident expression of guilt on his face when he saw the girl lying on the bed.

despite of her state, yulhee's eyes brightened

"jaehyun!"

she exclaimed followed by a groan when she slightly moved

jaehyun immediately rushed towards her side

"don't move yet babe" he softly said, guiding her back to lay down

jaehyun adjusted her bed so she's comfortably sitting up facing him.

yulhee smiled lovingly at the man who's busy fixing her comforter carefully, not wanting to cause more harm to her.

"hey jae" she whispered, making him pause

"hmm?" he mumbled, still focused on what he's doing

"i love you"

yulhee said with pure sincerity, making the man snap his head towards her direction. clearly surprised at the sudden declaration.

he smiled lovingly, dimples fully displayed

"i love you more" he answered, hovering over her to plant a kiss on her forehead with his hand resting comfortably at the back of her head

"how are you now, love?"

his hand slid to cup her cheek, eyes searching hers for any discomfort or pain

"i'm fine now. thank god i didn't fall hard but still, my back hurts like a bitch" yulhee winced when she tried to straighten her back

"don't move too much, you might force your muscles" jaehyun directed making the girl pout, slouching back

"i'm gonna kill that fucker when i see his face again" jaehyun mumbled

"calm down boy, the police already got him detained" yulhee pats his hand, slightly chuckling at his frowning face

jaehyun pulled a chair and sat near her bed. he let out an exasperated sigh, clearly disappointed at himself.

he slowly took yulhee's hand, slowly caressing it as if it's the most fragile thing on earth.

"seriously babe, i won't let this happen again. i shouldn't have left you alone. i'm sorry"

yulhee stared down at jaehyun, his eyes not meeting hers.

"jae, as long as i'm here okay? don't apologize. look, i can still move just fine" she said, trying to lift up the mood but jaehyun was still looking down

"what matters is that our baby's perfectly fine. jaelybean is still with us, babe" her free hand ran through his soft locks

her soft, reassuring voice made jaehyun slowly raise up his head. glossy eyes cautiously meeting hers.

"you and our baby matters to me too, yulhee. i was so scared" he admitted, making yulhee tug at his sweater, inviting him to her arms

"shh, it was not your fault jae. you're here now" yulhee stroked his back, trying to calm down his heightened emotions

"i could've lost you"

"you won't. i'm strong, baby. i, too wouldn't let anything happen to jaelybean" she softly said to his ear

jaehyun kept his head on her shoulder, eventually relaxing at her soft touch.

[few hours later]

jaehyun slid the door of yulhee's room close quietly. he thought of going back home and getting clothes since yulhee was advised to stay admitted for the time being since she needs to recover from the trauma.

the girl slept soundly, getting groggy from the medicine she had to take.

as he turned around, he saw a familiar woman with the same shocked expression written on her face

"jaehyun!"

"eomma!"

jaehyun's mom was equally as shocked as the boy. it slipped his mind that his father is also admitted in the same hospital since his focus was all on yulhee throughout the day.

"what are you doing here jaehyun-ah? are you hurt?" his mother engulfed him in a brief hug then held his forearms to examine his face

"uh no" he said

"then why are you here?"

"yulhee is, eomma"

her worried expression turned into a big smile, making jaehyun grimace at his mom's sudden peculiar reaction

"omo! yulhee? as in my future daughter in law? let me meet her!" mrs. jeong clapped her hands excitedly

"she's sleeping ma, i'll let you two meet tomorrow" he said, slowly dragging his mom away from the door

"fine, but what happened jaehyun-ah? was it serious?" she worriedly asked

jaehyun quickly glanced at his mother before slowly feeding her the information

"um, she was attacked by a random man while we were getting groceries" he gulped once he was done

his mother was moritified

"what? how did that happen?" her hands covered her mouth, clearly shocked

"i left her for a while to get something and then when i came back, the police was already there. it went by so quick mom" jaehyun stared at the floor, the guilt was eating him again

disappointment was written on her face but as a mother, she didn't want to add fuel to the fire anymore, seeing the discomfort on her son's face.

"the baby?"

"the baby's fine"

"oh thank god" she let out a breath she had been keeping in

"jaehyun, listen to me. yulhee is carrying a child. your child. they are your full responsibility and i want you to do best for the both of them, okay?" she rubbed his arm

"you're going to be a great dad, my son. i know it" her hand cupped his cheek to make him look at him

jaehyun met her eyes full of love. he's forever thankful for having a mother who showered him with love. he's an only child but he never felt anything missing. his father was a workaholic but he still made time for jaehyun, enough to make him not feel neglected.

and he plans on doing the same for yulhee and his child.

short chapter because i wanted to update this book. i need to cope up with this writer's block especially now that i graduated college and i have free time.

idk what job i'll be getting fr and it's so frustrating. anyway, while waiting for call backs from the companies i applied for, i will try my best to update this hehe
