Since the store was just 12 minutes away from her house, Amaira and Draven decided to walk.

Springbook was a city which was situated in the middle of the country and thus it was also the capital. It's streets would always be seen buzzing with people and vehicles. Naturally it was also a hub for tall corporate buildings, shopping malls, cafes, both small shops and big markets, eye pleasing bookstores and what not.

Since it had just rained, the roadsides were wet and small puddles had formed. The roofs of the shops were dripping with the remaining essence of the rain and the sky was of a gloomy shade of grey without any sign of the sun.

As they were walking along the sidewalks, Amaira started thinking where it all went wrong. Maybe it was when she realised that Draven was not all she thought him to be and that she dated him only because she envisioned him to be another version of himself that she had made up in her mind. Or maybe it was when she realised that he dated her only because he lusted after her and just wanted to pass his time. Even as a friend, he was too narcissistic for his own good but she could not deny the fact that he was a good company and could be helpful. Occasionally.

She thought upon on how while being in a relationship, he would disrespect her infront of his friends in the name of joke and when she would get upset, he would blame her by saying that she could not take a joke and that she was too sensitive. Hell, she could actually count on her fingers the number of times she had actually smiled during their relationship.

There were many regrets in her life, but breaking things with him was definitely not one of them. Although it hurt her so much since she actually loved him, it was needed for her to heal herself and move on. But because she was also a complete idiot who could not fathom the thought of completely losing touch with each other, she suggested that they stay as friends. Now that was a mistake that has come biting in her ass.

Coming out of her thoughts, Amaira realised that they've reached the grocery store and mentally listed out all the things that she had to buy.

Searching for a carton of milk among the aisle, Amaira didn't realise when Draven had sneaked behind her and leaning close to her right ear, he whispered, "The milk is on the 3rd shelve. Want me to get it down for you sweetheart?"

Amaira almost stumbled from his sudden appearance and putting her hands over her unsteady heart, she whisper-shouted at him, "Holy shit Draven, would you stop sneaking up on me and give me a mini heart attack? Some day or the other you would actually kill me with this annoying habit of yours."

Draven couldn't help but chuckle as he said, "Sorry babe but it's actually fun seeing so riled up over this. Plus you know how old habits die hard". Amaira couldn't help but reply pointedly, "You may think that it is funny but it's not. And last I checked, we are not in a relationship so please refrain from calling me with nicknames such as 'babe'".

Draven couldn't help but grimace at the rude reminder. He quickly changed the topic and asked, "Have you heard about the disappearance of the mayor? I've heard that it's been 5 days and no one could reach him and his family has gone ballistic over the police". Amaira replied, "Yeah I did see on the news today. But I've also heard that he was very corrupted and did not pay his taxes dutily and that he's also the owner of huge amount of black money. Who knows what more illegal things he has got himself involved in? There are just so many possibilities" she said with a sigh. "Maybe, maybe not. Who knows. But since he's a government official, we have to wait until the case of his disappearance gets handed over to us" said Draven contemplatingly.

"Yes you're right. Let's wait until then" saying this, Amaira sighed again and pushed the cart towards where the cashier was but unfortunately there was a long line ahead of them.

After waiting for about 15 minutes, the duo went from the store with both of their hands full.
