ch. 2

(friday morning)

"Good morning grandma, good morning grandpa," I said as I sat down on the couch before school. My church uniform was so scratchy and it bothered me so much.

"Morning. By the way, your mom's coming over after school if that's okay," my grandma responded. I groaned. I live with my grandparents because when I was a toddler, my dad ran away and my mom got arrested and sent to prison for most of my life. She just got back 2 years ago and is trying to be close with me but it's really uncomfortable.

My mom said she changed, and I believed her, but she's been doing suspicious stuff recently. It's not that big of a deal, but she started vaping a lot again and she tells me these secrets that I'm not allowed to tell my grandparents. For example, she's dating this guy that's in prison (big red flag) and she wants to marry him. She sends him money a lot and he seems kinda mean.

I snapped back to reality, realizing it was almost time to go to school. I jumped in my grandpa's car and got to school just in time for church.

"Ughh church is so annoying and these uniforms we have to wear suck," Paige whispered.

Honestly, I hate them too but I don't spend all my time complaining about it. I just want to get the day over with so I can relax all weekend. I deserve it.

Then, I remember about the Ariana Grande contest. I'm so excited to find out if I win, but i don't want to jinx myself. I try to block it out of my brain and just zone out for most of the church service.

(6th period)
"I hate Spanish Class" Paige whispered over to me. I honestly kind of agreed with her but I didn't want to complain, because our spanish teacher was one of the few teachers that was actually good at teaching. I also felt bad for the teacher. It was only her 3rd year out if college and almost the whole school hates her.

(1 hour later)
I was finally going home after one of the longest school days ever. I just wanted to go home and find out if i won the contest! I told my grandpa about it for the 4th time that week, and he rolled his eyes because he was tired of hearing about it.

I got home and went straight to my ipad, not even remembering that my mom was there. I quickly unlocked just to see that I had won the contest. I WON THE CONTEST.

"OH. MY. GOD!" I screamed.

"What's wrong?"my mom and grandma asked at the same time.

"I JUST WON THE CONTEST TO STAY WITH ARIANA GRANDE FOR 4 DAYS" I screamed, not even realizing how loud I was, because I was so excited.

    "Wait really? You're not kidding?" my grandma said.

    "No come look!" I exclaimed. By then my grandpa had noticed and they all came rushing over to see.

    "Well isn't that something" my grandma said, followed by similar remarks from my mom and grandma.

    "Omg I can't even believe this is real." I said. I was unable to even think, Ariana has been my idol for what seems like forever. This was probably a once in a life time opportunity.

    "Can your mom look at the details" my grandma asked. I hated how my mom always had to do it, why couldn't I?

    "Sure, I'll show you them." I reluctantly handed her my ipad. In a few seconds, she said we had to be at the airport at 9:15 a.m. for our flight to L.a. and our expenses were paid. Then, just me and Ariana would stay in an air bnb for 4 days and my parents would fly back to pick me up.

    "Wow, just wow," my grandma said. After a minute of talking, we agreed that my grandma and grandpa would take me because my momhad to work. She said she was very sorry that she couldn't make it and was very sad. "As if I want you there," I thought to myself.

a/n: ive been doing tests all week and have been really tired but i finally got the time to write! i hope you guys like it bc i actually tried to edit it this time lol. (this might or might not still be based on real life events but my spanish teacher is actually rly nice soo)

also am i the only who physically cant wait for taylor swift's new album? like i need it right now 😭
