From that day on, I would always hang out with Vin Jin.
Telling everyone that I was supposedly 'curing my curse', I used this as a shield to justify my weird actions of always staying next to Vin.
I also used this excuse when other guys asked me why I was always so nice to Vin. I could always just say that I wanted to make sure I was fully healed.
Somewhat peaceful days continued on. It was pretty clear that Vin was beginning to trust me a bit more, which was great. We got closer to the point where we could make casual jokes, or technically it was more of a one-way thing, but still. Progress, you know.
"Hey bae~" I casually said, whistling to Vin as he approached our home. Immediately, his face turned to a shade of crimson red, flustered and unable to speak.
"W-what are you saying you woman!" Vin yelled, trying to cover his face. I laughed, cherishing the moment.
I hoped that this life would go on. On and on, until I forgot about everything else.
Maybe tragedy wouldn't happen.
Maybe, I wouldn't have to see Vin suffering anymore.
But of course, inevitably, quite violently, I had to face reality in a matter of days.
=====
I rubbed my eyes, groggily staring at the blank wall.
I yawned while stretching my arms out from a good nap. It was already getting dark outside, and I could see the full moon very clearly.
"..Vin?" I whispered, still unaware of the situation.
"Vin?" I asked once again, this time more awake.
It was already 3 am, and even if there was a ritual, it would have ended before 1 am at the very least.
"Vin?" I yelled, this time with urgency.
If he wasn't here, that would only mean one thing.
Something happened to him.
I quickly got out of my sheets, rushing to the front door. I slammed the door open, looking around my surroundings.
The mountains.
If I think about the plot, then there's only one incident when Vin goes somewhere during the night. It's when he goes to the mountains to kill himself.
Shit.
Even though I knew that Seongji Yuk would meet Vin and become his teacher, I still didn't want him to go through the same shit from the webtoon. I quickly put on my shoes and ran towards the mountains.
After a long journey of running through long leaves and trees, I finally reached a place that seemed like a human habitat. I also saw a hint of a campfire from far away, so I decided to quickly approach the place.
Panting, I stopped walking when I saw a few people in sight.
"Vin? You there?" I asked, trying to check if he was there.
Thankfully, Vin was staring at me, on the ground, with a slight frown.
"What are you doing here, woman?" he asked, sounding surprised.
I grinned, letting out a sigh of relief.
"You're alright? I got surprised because you weren't coming back, Vin," I said, slightly shaking my head.
At this, Vin sighed.
"I never asked for you to come find me," he said in an aggressive tone, clearly trying to irritate me. At this, I simply let out a small smile.
"Yea, I know bae,"
My sudden flirt made Vin's face turn into a shade of crimson red once more, making all the other students in the area stare at me in disbelief.
"Vin Jin has a girlfriend?!" they all echoed in sync.
I laughed, simply enjoying the situation. Vin just sighed, not being able to take off the crimson red dye from his skin.
"Hmm?" said a new voice, suddenly appearing out of nowhere.
I quickly turned to stare, soon realizing that this was the day I had lived for.
"Shit, no fucking way," I said as my jaw dropped open, admiring the unrealistic beauty of the man who was casually standing with a tang hu lu in front of me. At this, the man raised an eyebrow, questioning my actions.
"So damn handsome, like, what the fuck??" I half shouted, not realizing that everyone was listening.
"Oops! Did I say that out loud?"
=====
"Seongji ssaem please marry me!" I yelled for the 100th time today. Since my thoughts have been revealed anyways, I decided that it would be best to express my thoughts so that Seongji Yuk would be aware of how damn beautiful he is.
As always, Seongji sighed, turning away.
"Kids these days, huh," he said quietly, criticizing my bizarre actions.
"No, like seriously ssaem. Please please please? Pretty please? Triple please?" I asked once more, pleading.
"Come back to me when you become an adult, kid," he replied nonchalantly, not even taking my words into consideration.
"What do you see in him anyways, huh," Vin quietly mumbled, complaining about my actions.
"Hey! Don't say that to my future husband, bae!" I shushed Vin, telling him that his statements are completely unacceptable. I sighed once more, not believing how handsome Seongji was.
Like, he would be the reincarnation of a devil or something, because they're capable of luring humans right away. Seongji Yuk was just so handsome and beautiful, and I couldn't stop talking about it.
Vin just continued mumbling and complaining about me acting hella strange.
I scoffed, grinning.
"You're just jealous, bae~"
Vin groaned, not even bothering to refute.
I really hoped that these days would continue.
Peaceful, calm, and healing.
But I could never trust my stupid luck, could I?
Really, I could never.
=====
Staring at the cold body, deprived of any life, made me want to throw up.
The man who was smiling at me, the man who saved me, the man who I considered to be family.
Gone, just like that.
Gone.
Gone.
I would kill Charles Choi.
Kill him, rip hip into shreds and pieces.
Kill him until he can no longer beg for mercy.
That was what I was going to do.
