Something was brewing between Logan and Emilia. It was a good brew and felt natural. Their friendship blossomed and Emilia felt a connection with Logan. Logan was extremely kind to her and treated her so well.
It was magical.
Although it looked like no one wanted to make the first move, there was something there. Something felt right between Logan and Emilia-like they have been intertwined since the beginning. It made their relationship spark.
One night, Logan invited Emilia to join him and his friends for dinner. Emilia couldn't resist. Her classes were canceled due to a teacher strike in Scotland, so she was catching up on homework and wanting to get out of the house. Getting dinner sounded amazing and a good way for Emilia to broaden her friendship circle.
As Emilia got dressed, she thought about Logan and his friends. Were they just like Angelina? Did they know something about her and Logan? Emilia put on a black jumpsuit and put her hair into two braids. She grabbed her makeup and went downstairs. For some reason, the mirror next to the door provided the best light for applying makeup.
Emilia applied her makeup. She finished putting her lipstick on when her phone buzzed. She checked her phone and saw Logan's text. She grabbed her phone, her purse, keys, and left the house. She locked the door and walked to the front of the base to check out. After checking out, she saw Logan's car parked across the base.
"Helllo!"Emilia said as she got into the car.
"Hello!" Logan said. "Are you ready for dinner?"
"I am! Who's joining us for dinner?"
Logan started driving away from the base. "We are going to an Italian restaurant called Zizzi's. It's pretty good."
Emilia got out her phone, and looked up the restaurant and the menu. She saw a spaghetti bolognese and decided that she wanted to try it.
"How's classes going?" Logan asked.
"Pretty good. The university got hit with the professor strikes so I didn't have any classes today," Emilia said. "What about you? How are the children?"
"The children," Logan said. "Are slightly restless. I teach eleven- to twelve-year-olds and they are getting anxious."
"Anxious about what?"
"Everything. School, Taylor Swift, sports. It's hard to keep track of it all."
Emilia smiled. She looked out the window. The sun was starting to go down and bathed the countryside in a heavenly glow. Train tracks started to come into view, and Glasgow's skyline bursted into view. Emilia started to enjoy seeing Glasgow everytime she went into the city.
Glasgow traffic led them to take another route through the city. Logan drove through the city and stopped in the West End. He parked the car, and they both got out. Logan gave her his arm.
"You look really nice today," Logan said.
Emilia blushed. "Thank you. You too."
Logan wore a dark blue dress shirt and black pants. "Thank you. Just to let you know, my friends can be a little loud. Bunch of goons they are."
Emilia giggled. "I'm sure I can handle it."
They both walked down the street and to the restaurant. Logan opened the door for her, and she walked in. The restaurant was big and was colorful. Logan led Emilia to a crowded table. Six people sat around the table laughing. Emilia recognized Angelina sitting next to two people. Angelia noticed Emilia and waved to her. "There they are!"
"You alright?" Logan asked the table as they approached. "This is Emilia."
Emilia smiled and gave the table a nod.
"You weren't kidding Logan," one of the guys said. "She a bonnie!"
Logan blushed and smacked the back of the guy's head. "Lachlan! Shut up!"
Angelina grabbed Emilia's arm and led her to an empty spot. Logan joined the group of guys at the front of the table. Angelina did a quick introduction and then opened the floodgates about Emilia. Emilia peeked at Logan who was also stuck in an interrogation with his friends. He gave her a smile and a thumbs-up.
A waiter came around and gathered everyone's orders. Emilia ordered spaghetti bolognese and a cocktail. After the waiter gathered the menus and orders, the girls attacked Emilia with questions. But one question kept on coming back over and over. Questions about Logan.
"I gotta ask," Angelina said. "Is something blossoming between the two of you?"
Emilia blushed again. "I think there is. Is there something noticeable?"
"He talks about ya all the time," another girl said. "More like bragging to be fair."
"We hear about it from the lads," Angelina said. "Except for Maisie. She works with Logan."
Angelina pointed to a girl at the end of the table. The girl waved at Emilia.
"He's always chatting away about you. How come you and Logan haven't gone on any dates?" Maisie shouted above the noise.
"He meets me at the university when work is over. We get coffee or dinner then he drops me off at home," Emilia said.
"Awwwww, that's cute," Angelina said. "And he's been doing this for a month?"
Emilia nodded. "Yep. Since I started classes in January."
Angelina and Maisie gave each other smirks. "Sounds like he likes you. Do you like him back?"
"Yeah," Emilia said. "He's a nice guy and treats me well. I have a strong connection with him."
"Yeah, but do you like like him?"
All the girls stared at Emilia. Emilia felt her face turn red as she answered, "Yes."
They all cheered. Emilia blushed even harder and turned so she could find Logan. Logan didn't seem to hear the cheers coming from the end of the table, and was busy talking and laughing with his friends.
"You two now have to get together," Maisie said. "It's written in the stars or something. Like fate."
Those thin words strung together in Emilia's mind. Like fate.
Like it was written in the stars.
