Scooter peered out of the bus window into the dark night. He swore he'd seen Gonzo go out there, and Gonzo usually only went out there this late when something was wrong, so he had to go help him with whatever he needed.
Slowly, Scooter opened the door, being careful not to wake the others. He quietly scampered across the grassy ground, spying Gonzo sprawled out on his back in the pale moonlight not too far ahead.
As Scooter neared him, his foot caught on a rock, causing him to trip and fall onto his stomach with a small oomf. Gonzo snapped his head backward, giggling quietly when he saw the source of the noise.
"Hey, Gonzo," The yellow-orange Muppet greeted, chuckling awkwardly. "Do you mind helping me up?"
"Sure thing," The whatever replied, grabbing onto Scooter's hand, and pulling him upward. When they were both seated on a nearby log, Scooter opened his mouth.
"So, Gonzo," He started. "What brought you out here this late?" Gonzo lifted his head, turning to the young Muppet sitting next to him with a far away look in his eyes.
"You ever miss the night you and the Mayhem found us in the middle of nowhere?" He asked, resting his head in his hands and looking to the sky. "The sky sure is pretty tonight." Scooter hummed, fixing his gaze on the starry night above him.
"I guess, yeah," He replied, looking at the sky for a moment more, and then turning to the stargazing Muppet next to him. "Remember that song you sang, before me and the Mayhem found you guys?" Gonzo nodded, not looking away from the sky.
"It was a night just like this," He spoke softly. At that, Scooter had an idea. He opened his mouth.
"This looks familiar, vaguely familiar," He crooned, looking at Gonzo with questioning eyes. The blue Muppet nodded.
"Almost unreal yet, It's too soon to feel yet," He sang back.
"Close to my soul, and yet so far away,"
"I'm going to go back there someday,"
The 2 Muppets sang until the end of the song, a strong sense of nostalgia and longing for the past in the air. When the song was over, Gonzo turned to the younger Muppet.
"Hey, Scooter?" He asked, a grateful look in his eyes. The aforementioned Muppet tilted his head.
"Yeah?"
"Thanks." Gonzo gave him a smile that reached his eyes, Scooter mirroring it. Together, the 2 sleepless Muppets stargazed for the rest of the night, only to have Dr. Teeth find them the next morning, asleep, but still grinning from ear to ear.
