Benny's POV
It had been almost five weeks since the bonfire at Damon's house—the night everything felt easy and warm and right under the stars. Since then, life had gone full throttle.
Madison and I were still texting. Still calling. Some nights, I'd hear her voice in the quiet between sessions, curled up on the studio couch with my guitar across my lap, her laugh echoing through the speaker. We talked about stupid things, deep things, random questions that turned into long-winded stories. But the truth? I hadn't seen her much. Maybe once, since that night. Schedules sucked.
We'd all been slammed. Right after the bonfire, we flew to Vegas for the iHeartRadio Music Festival. Showed up on the last day and did a surprise performance—just enough to send the internet into meltdown over our return. We love a dramatic re-entry.
Then came the press. Rehearsals. Flights. More press. Jenny was the one who told us we were officially locked in for The Tonight Show. I think her exact words were: "Do not embarrass me. Wear black. Be iconic."
We did The Jimmy Fallon Show last week, and it actually turned out to be one of the most fun nights we've had in a while. Fallon had no clue what hit him. Between our Fallon who brought a laminated chart of all the things "our Fallon" did better and Jimmy cracking up the whole time, the entire thing turned into a roast.
And then we performed "Lost Cause."
God. That changed everything.
It hit different live. Damon's intro beat punched straight through the floor. Amelia's bassline groaned beneath the vocals. My guitar cut in sharp, Fallon's harmony kicked in like she was dragging the whole room into the story. It felt like a confession and a riot at the same time.
By the next morning, the internet had exploded.

Clips from the performance were everywhere. Fan edits, slowed reverb versions, acoustic covers, breakdown threads. TikTok was drowning in it. Jenny texted our group chat:
"Breathe. We're trending in seven countries."
But the wildest part?
Ariana Grande posted a clip on her story of her and her Wicked castmates belting the chorus in full glam during a break on set.
"Obsessed. This track is everything. NSB did THAT. 💜🖤"
Then she reposted one of Amelia's behind-the-scenes videos and tagged me in a black-and-white photo of me playing the bridge live. No caption. Just a fire emoji and a purple heart.
