Before I begin this story, I'm going to say: I'm taking polls and this will effect the story line. I'm not very good at deciding endings, so this is basically me getting bored :)
"Hey," my boss leaned towards me. His breath stank of liquor and scotch, "lock up for me doll face." He said as he dropped the keys on the bar. He stumbled his way out into the night. I sincerely hoped he was to drunk to see right. Maybe he'd finally get hit by a car. I continued scrubbing the filth from the bar. Technically I shouldn't be working here, I'm only 17 years old, but no one seemed to care. I snatched the keys from the counter and wiped the spot where they had been. I realized that he neon signs in the windows still glowed making the bar appear open. I headed over to turn them off when a group of men walked in. They ranged from tall and lanky to short and stalky.
"My, my, what do we have here?" The man in the front grumbled, looking in my direction.
"Aren't you a little young to be tending a bar?" The man to his right asked.
"We're closed," I threatened as I clicked the neon signs off. I backed towards the bar counter as they came further into the room.
"That's great sweetheart, I'll have a beer," the man who I assumed was the leader said.
I steeled my face and reached below the bar, feeling for the pistol I hid below. The leader seated himself on a stool and another man perched beside him. I found the small gun and held it behind my back.
"I said we're closed!" I spoke sternly.
Someone grabbed my arm from behind, "She's got a gun!" He announced.
"Shit!" I muttered.
"Aw, the little girl was planning on saving the day? How sweet." The man perched beside the leader chimed.
I glared at the men and tried to twist away from the man's firm grasp. "Let me go!" I yelled.
"Drop the gun," he bargained and I could feel his smirk from behind me.
I pulled a switchblade from my pocket and swiped it blindly behind me. "Ow! You little bitch!" He shouted and released me. I turned on him and held the gun out. As I was about to shoot someone grabbed my other arm and pulled me over the bar. My shot rang uselessly into the ceiling.
"Hey now, don't be like that," the leader purred as he pulled my body closer to his. I lunged towards him and bit his arm. "Hey!" He yelped. He smacked me across the face before drawing out a gun. He pointed the barrel at me and I flinched.
"You're more trouble than you're worth, meet you in hell, girl!" He said. The sound of a gunshot rang through the air. I held my eyes shut tight. I didn't feel pain, confused, I opened my eyes. The leader looked just as surprised as I did. He looked at his hand, which was now empty, then he glared at the doorway where the shot came from. I followed his stare and my eyes fell upon a young man holding a gun in each hand. Next to him a man lay on the ground bleeding from a head shot. He couldn't possibly have fired both simultaneously? I stared in awe as more guys drew guns from their coats. I slipped off the counter and ducked beneath it.
"Psst~" someone whispered next to me. I turned my head quickly, ready to punch someone. My fist relaxed when I saw the face of another young man. He reminded me of a brother I used to have. His name was Sammy, but he got lost at sea and never returned.
"Woah, woah there," he said, grabbing my anxious fist and lowering it to my side. "I'm a friend, mate." He had a native accent. Now he really reminded me of my brother. The man who I had almost shot earlier lay motionless next to us-- motionless and naked. The guy next to me was putting on his clothes! He looked at me, "Let's play a game, a'right mate? I'm gonna sling yah over me shoulder, and yer gonna act like yer dead, a'right?" I nodded. He pulled his cap down over his eyes and shot a bullet into the ground. He wiped my face with his hand, leaving it sticky and wet, "Now yah look the part," he grinned. I was slightly disgusted that he'd just wiped someone's blood on my face, and I wondered who's it was.
