As Emily splashed her face with water in the bathroom, a wave of rejuvenation swept through her. She gazed at her reflection in the mirror, a determination flickering in her eyes as she declared, "I have to find the key to the padlock of the storage room."
Emily swiftly dried her face with a towel and came out of the bathroom, finding that everyone was still engaged in their conversation. She cautiously made her way past the group gathered near the couches and quietly stepped towards the storage room.
Upon arriving at the storage room, Emily's eyes widened in shock. The blood drops that had been her chilling reminder of the scene before were no longer in the doorway of the storage room. To add to her surprise, the padlock that should have been hung on the door was nowhere to be found.
"I think someone who has opened the door has wiped the blood drops from the doorway of the storage room?"
Just as Emily stood stunned before the storage room, she heard the distinct sound of footsteps approaching from within the storage room. Her heart racing, she hurriedly dodged into Mr. Jones's room, seeking shelter from whoever was emerging from the storage room.
Peeking cautiously from her hiding spot, she observed a staff member locking the storage room door with the padlock. As the staff calmly slipped the key into his pocket and walked away, Emily's eyes widened in realization. The key had accidentally fallen from the man's pocket without his knowledge.
Breathing a sigh of relief, Emily waited until the coast was clear before emerging from her hiding place. Spotting the key lying on the floor, she grabbed it with a sense of victory.
"Thank goodness. I got the key!"
Glancing furtively around to ensure she was unobserved, Emily inserted the key into the padlock. With a creak, the padlock released its hold, and Emily carefully swung open the door to reveal the secrets hidden within.
The storage room looked like a black hole, nothing could be seen inside the room. The darkness engulfed the whole room and the light coming from the hallway was the only source of light for the storage room. A musty smell assaulted the senses. The room was filled with an eerie silence, broken only by the sound of mice scurrying in the corners.
Then Emily steps into the storage room and begins searching for the light on her right side wall. Finally, her fingers succeed in finding the light switch. As she switched on the light, the room filled with yellow light. Dust motes danced in the dim light that filtered through a small, dirty window. The shelves were lined with cardboard boxes, their contents long forgotten and covered in a thick layer of grime. Cobwebs clung to the ceiling.
The air was heavy with the smell of rotten and decay. She put her hand over her nose as steps further inside the storage room. As came to the middle of the room, her eyes spotted something besides a tower of cardboard boxes. She was not sure what was beside the cardboard box.
As she took steps towards the tower of cardboard boxes, a rotting smell increased. When she arrived before the tower of cardboard boxes, she saw something beside the cardboard boxes which widened her eyes in dread.
Meanwhile, the receptionist was stepping towards the outhouse where Richard and Mike were waiting for him. His heart was pounding in his chest as he was thinking how to tell them that Micheal had forgotten to pick up the knife from the crime spot and now the bloody knife had gone missing again.
He has been searching for the knife where Mr Harry's dead boy was found. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find that bloody knife. As he arrived at the outhouse, Richard and Mike's curious eyes went on him.
"Where is the knife?" Richard asked.
"Um..m..Sir..,"
"What?" Richard asked in confusion and Mike stared at the receptionist in wonder.
The receptionist mustered his courage and said, "Sir, I told the staff to pick up the knife from where Mr Harry's body was placed in the outhouse. Unfortunately, amidst the chaos, one of them got distracted and forgot to retrieve it. I take full responsibility for not doing it myself. I apologize sincerely, sir."
Richard exclaimed, "What?? The knife is missing!"
"I can't believe the killer keeps using the same knife," Mike spoke in perplexed.
Just as Richard was about to speak, a bone-chilling scream pierced the air, sending shivers down their spines. They rushed into the motel. In the hall, everyone rushed towards the storage room where the scream had come. The sounds of hurried footsteps filled the hallway as everyone was drawn towards the scream, leading them to the storage room.
As Richard, Mike and the receptionist came inside the motel, they got to know that the scream had come from the storage room. The receptionist's eyes widened in terror as his heart raced in panic. The entire staff quickly assembled in the hall, their expressions reflecting a mixture of fear and confusion upon realizing the scream had originated from the storage room.
George was the first to reach the storage room, where he found Emily standing frozen before a tower of cardboard boxes. As he hurried towards her, he too beheld the chilling sight that had left her speechless. Alex and Emma quickly joined them, also frozen in shock. Meanwhile, Jack and Lily hovered at the doorstep, visibly frightened by the reaction of those inside.
The policemen, determined to investigate, cleared a path for themselves and entered the storage room. Upon reaching the stack of boxes, they were met with a gruesome scene - the decaying remains of a man lay among them.
