OLIVIA SAT ON THE edge of her seat, her knees tucked up to her chest while she held her round of cards in her hands. A girl with blonde hair tied back into a ponytail, Emma, sat next to her while Taylor sat in an armchair just beside the couch next to them.
The group made it back to the buses safely where their class headed to the motel and divided up everyone into groups of four per room, doing their best to keep everyone in the same group together. Everything felt a little awkward after what played out at the Sorrel Weed house, but Taylor brushed it off as nothing and acted like everything was fine, suggesting a game of cards to pass the time until bed. Feeling compelled to do so after Emma agreed, Olivia did as well. And even if there was a nagging feeling telling Olivia that what happened wasn't normal and shouldn't be brushed off so simply, the Williams girl ignored it and went about her day per usual.
Everything was fine.
That was what she kept telling herself.
"Ah, Ashlyn!" Taylor chirped happily, noticing the ginger exiting the bathroom after she had finished her shower. "Wanna play with us?"
Ashlyn looked over the three girls sitting in the small, although surprisingly comfortable, living space of the motel room. Her eyes briefly even locked onto Olivia's and that familiar wave of uneasy awkwardness washed over her again, causing her to rip her gaze away with her mind made up. "..No, you guys go ahead. I'm getting ready for bed."
Taylor seemed rather startled as she watched Ashlyn head to the room the two of them were sharing. Olivia also seemed confused as to why the ginger was hitting the hay so early. It was only 8:30 after all. Although Olivia couldn't blame the Banner girl much. The day had been long and exhausting and what played throughout it wasn't too thrilling either.
"I doubt she's actually going to bed." Emma commented, drawing the attention of the other two girls. "She's probably just shy. Besides, I haven't really seen her talk to anyone at school before. Either she's just really bad at socializing or she just hates it."
Olivia pressed her lips together in a thin line at that thought. She was wondering the same. However, her attention wasn't left to linger as she slapped her cards down on the table with a victorious smile. "Ha! I win!"
"Again!?" Emma and Taylor gawked at the brunette–green haired girl in shock. How was she so good at cards?!
"I declare a rematch!" Taylor announced, a pout pressed across her face.
Olivia snickered a little and pushed herself onto her feet, her weight sinking down onto the surprisingly extremely soft carpeting of the motel room. "Maybe tomorrow morning? I'm going to shower and then head to bed."
