Chapter 1
Sickness in the family
On a stormy cold night in a kingdom in England there was a boy aged seventeen with raven hair. He was sitting beside his father’s bed where his father lay coughing. He looked over at his son, ‘’Maxwell, soon is my death and I want you…’’ He coughed again ‘’to be the next ruler of the kingdom and I want you to find a wife.’’ Maxwell looked shocked.
In a dark corner, a tall robed figure was listening to their conversation as Maxwell looked at his father, ‘’Father, how can I run a kingdom If I’m only seventeen years old?’’
The father coughed again and Maxwell handed his father a glass of water and the father took a sip and said ‘’I was seventeen when I became king.’’
‘’But, father.’’
His father looked at him with serious face he used when he was giving a speech to the village, ‘’No buts. Now the wizard is waiting for you down at the shed.’’
Maxwell nodded and left.
The evil step-mother came out from the dark corner and looked at her sick husband, ‘’Hello honey’’ She grinned. The king looked back at the queen and said, ‘’Hello dear. I didn’t hear you come in.’’ The queen stepped forward and hiding a dagger within her sleeve and leaning forward, she whispered, ‘’You must have heard wrong.’’ She covered his mouth and took out the dagger, and the king eye’s widened in fear and shock. He struggled, But he wound up dead and blood was dripped down his wound. She carried the dead body of her husband and disappeared to the river and dumped him.
Meanwhile, Maxwell walked across the yard and stopped at the door to the shed and knocked on the door, as a tall man In his late sixties with a long white beard said, ‘’Who is it?!’’
Maxwell jumped a little and said, ‘’I-It’s is I Maxwell.’’
The old wizard opened the door and said, ‘’Oh it’s you Maxwell, what are you doing here?’’
Maxwell looked up at the wizard and thought he changed since the last time he saw him. Maxwell said, ‘’My father said that you wanted to see me?’’
The wizard looked at him, then he looked around to see if anyone was there, but he let Maxwell in and said, ‘’Yes, I have some things to discuss with you.’’ He walked pass him and sat on a chair and conjured him and Maxwell a cup of blackish reddish juice. Maxwell joined him and he took the glass off the table and sipped some and looked at the wizard confused ‘’What kind of things??’’ The wizard looked at him and he walked to his closet and he pulled out a crystal ball and he handed it to Maxwell.
Maxwell looked at it and his eyes widened as he saw his step-mother, as queen of the kingdom. The kingdom had guards whipping people on their back with blood dripping down. In the highest sharpest tower, he saw his step-mother holding his father’s sword. The crystal ball exploded and Maxwell’s face was covered with black smoke and his hair spiked. The old wizard chuckled and Maxwell glared at him. Then Maxwell got cleaned up and he went to the wizard and asked him, ‘’What should I do?’’
The wizard asked him to go gather his stuff and go over to the village where his friends were and let them help you on this journey to the tower where the princess is. Maxwell nodded and went to his room and took out his sword and tied it around his waist and took out his backpack and put some food, clothes, and money in it. He went down to the stable and got on his black horse and rode off to the village. As he arrived in the village, he heard people whispering, ‘’It’s Maxwell, the king’s son. What is he doing here?’’ Maxwell stopped and got off his horse and walked up to the door and what he saw before him was his best friend Jenny, with long brown hair, light brown eyes, and a very slim body.
She smiled at him, ‘’Hello Maxwell, how are you?’’
Maxwell smiled back at her and said, ‘’Good. You?’’
After a half hour, Maxwell told Jenny everything and she hugged him tight and said, ‘’Oh Maxwell I would love to go and help you with this journey.’’
He smiled at her and told her to go pack her clothes and he would go talk to Chance out back. Jenny left and went upstairs as Maxwell went and talked to Chance about everything he told Jenny.
Chance cut Maxwell off, ‘’I know I saw your future.’’
Maxwell smiled and nodded as he told Chance that he will he joined and they went to the front and met Jenny in the front and all three rode off into the deep woods.
