The trees in the meadow swayed as Tyler sat under a tree playing his harmonica and trying to harmonize with the song of the birds that were singing. Soon getting bored the boy got up and put his harmonica away, he walked toward the town trade centre which was as barren as it usually was on a weekend. Most adults waited till the weekdays to put up shops as the kids would be away and unable to touch anything or try to bribe it from anyone. He looked through a small crack in a stall door and smiled before knocking.
"What do you want Tyler?" Mrs. Faren asked even though she already knew the obvious awnser to the question.
"Hey Mrs. Faren! You got any of my stuff?" Tyler asked as he walked in making the middle aged woman back up in fear of him accidentally bumping into her.
"No. Now go back home Tyler, it's late and you have etiquette classes tomorrow" the grey hair woman hissed at him and ushered him out with a broom
He rolled his eyes and walked away kicking rocks as he did. As the sun started to set on the stone wall he climbed up a tree and into the window of a house that had his last name on the front. As he watched the sun fall past the wall he got off the windowsill.
"Where have you been." A man said in a stern voice as he stood at the door of the room the young man had climbed into
"I was out on a walk dad, don't worry I'm fine." Tyler lied but he was good at it, as normal and got away with it. He laid in his bed and swiped through his phone watching videos and funny stories from his schoolmates. He was normally lonely but it was hitting hard at this moment as he laid there just looking at the videos on his phone. He let out a sigh and put it on the white nightstand by his bed.
The next morning he got out of bed at the sound of his alarm. He shut it off and stumbled to his closet, grabbing his school clothes and backpack before he walked downstairs.
"A good morning would be nice" his mother said sarcastically as she handed him his food bag and waved him off. He stopped by Mrs. Faren's shack, walking in and looking around as she came around the corner
"Dear Welts, Tyler. Your gloves aren't in yet. They're still being delivered." She said taking a deep breath as she turned the corner almost bumping into the boy.
Tyler sighed before replying, "Well.. when do you think they'll get here? I need them soon!" He said desperately. Mrs. Faren shrugged then ushered him out of the stall. He walked to school looking at the ground the entire time as he did. People weaved around him on the sidewalk trying not to be late for class as he normally is. He walked in the class as the teacher was calling attendance and the class gave him an unsurprised look as he took to his seat. He tapped his pencil on the desk as he looked to his phone in his lap.
"Mr. Teak, hand me that device in your lap." The teacher said and Tyler put the phone on their desk and rolled his eyes as he walked back to his desk. He mumbled something under his breath and his teacher looked at him with a stank eye. After class he asked for his phone back but was denied it. Tyler grumpily walked out muttering unusable words under his breath as he did.
