As they walked, the streets grew narrower and the houses more rundown. Eira's senses were on high alert, her heart pounding in her chest. She had never been in a place like this before, and she couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched.
Suddenly, Kael stopped in front of a dilapidated building. "We're here," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Eira looked up at the building, unsure what to expect. The sign above the door read "The Silver Stag Inn". It didn't look like the kind of place where she would find answers, but Kael seemed confident.
"Come on," he said, pushing open the door. "We need to get inside."
As they entered the inn, Eira was struck by the dim lighting and the smell of smoke and ale. The patrons were a rough-looking bunch, and she felt out of place in her fine servant's clothes.
But Kael led her through the crowd with ease, nodding to the bartender as they made their way to a corner table. "We'll be safe here," he said, his eyes scanning the room.
Eira took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves. She had no idea what lay ahead, but she was determined to find out.
As they sat down at the table, a hooded figure emerged from the shadows. "Kael," the figure said, its voice low and gravelly. "I see you've brought the girl."
Kael nodded. "Eira, this is Raven. He'll help us get to the sanctuary."
Eira's eyes narrowed. There was something about Raven that didn't feel right. But Kael seemed to trust him, so she nodded cautiously.
Raven pulled out a map and began to explain the route they would take. Eira listened intently, trying to commit every detail to memory.
As they finished their planning, a commotion erupted at the entrance of the inn. A group of rough-looking men stormed in, their eyes scanning the room.
"Looks like we have company," Raven said, his hand on the hilt of his sword. "Time to leave."
Eira's heart raced as they quickly gathered their things and followed Raven out of the inn. They wound their way through the crowded streets, trying to lose their pursuers.
As they turned a corner, Eira glanced back and saw the men closing in. "Kael, they're gaining on us!" she whispered urgently.
Kael's eyes scanned the area, and then he spotted a narrow alleyway to their left. "In here, quick!" he shouted, dragging Eira into the shadows.
They ran down the alley, their footsteps echoing off the walls. Eira's breath came in short gasps, and her heart pounded in her chest.
Suddenly, Raven stopped in front of a large stone door. "We're here," he said, producing a small key.
The door creaked open, revealing a dimly lit passageway. "Welcome to the Sanctuary," Raven said, gesturing for them to enter.
Eira hesitated, unsure what lay ahead. But Kael's encouraging nod and Raven's urgent gestures convinced her to step forward, into the unknown.
As they made their way down the passageway, Eira noticed that the walls were adorned with strange symbols, etched into the stone. They seemed to pulse with a soft, blue light, and she could feel a gentle hum of energy emanating from them.
Raven led them to a large chamber deep within the Sanctuary. The room was filled with people of all ages, each with their own unique story etched on their faces.
An elderly woman approached them, her eyes shining with warmth. "Welcome, Eira," she said, her voice like a gentle breeze. "I am Lyriah, the leader of this Sanctuary. We've been expecting you."
