Chapter 2: Helping a Girl and Beware of Dragons

(A/N: This is Chapter 2 of Aether's Guidance. I'm listening to "Faster N Harder" by 6arelyhuman while writing part of it)

"Fairy of Brightness? You bring brightness?" Bernadette asked. "Technically, yes, and where are you from?" Aether asked back. "We're from somewhere beyond this forest or maybe the world," Bernard said. Aether was shocked by Bernard's answer. "You said you were from another world?" Aether asked shockingly. "Yes...." Bernadette said. Aether was too shocked by the answer. 

Aether began to inspect the two of them "What are you doing? Why are you glaring at us?" Bernadette asked. Aether stopped glaring at them and calmed down "So you guys are humans?" Aether asked. "Well, duh. What do you think we are?" Bernadette said casually. "That's not how you answer to a stranger, Bernadette" Bernard scolded Bernadette. "It's okay" Aether reassured Bernard.

"Anyway, how did you guys get here?" Aether asked. "We were sucked by a portal on our way home from the forest near our home" Bernard explained to Aether how they got here. "I see. So, you guys came here for what?" Aether asked forgetfully. "Didn't we already tell you?" Bernard asked. "I forgot. Hehe, sorry" Aether said apologetically. "Never mind about that. Can you show us how to get out of this forest?" Bernadette asked.

Aether began to show the way out of the forest. "I'll accompany you to guide you the way out so don't worry," Aether said. "Anyway, I wanted to ask," Bernadette said. "Yes, what is it?" Aether asked. "That tiny house near the cave. Who lives there?" Bernadette said, remembering the tiny house. "Oh! That's my house. You saw it?" Aether asked. "Yes, there was no one in the house," Bernard said. "I live alone," Aether said.

Aether began to guide them out of the cave and the forest. The two thanked her for showing the way. As they walked away from the forest, they saw a bustling city. The twins were mesmerized by this. "Is this a city? Wow, this is crowded than I thought" Bernadette said. "This is the city of Cielo Azul, the capital city of La Zafiro, Kingdom of Sapphire," Aether said. As they walked through the city, they saw water throughout the city. "Why does this city have so much water?" Bernard asked. "This is because the kingdom was surrounded by water from the ocean and the ocean was shining like a diamond. Which is why it was called 'Nation of Sapphire'" Aether said.

"I see. I want to buy something from these shops. I bet there's good clothes to replace this" Bernadette said joyfully. "But the problem is we don't know what currency this world is so I don't think we can't buy stuff here without money," Bernard said. 

They went around until they saw a young girl at the back of an alley. The girl was injured and needed help so they went and approached her. "Are you okay?" Bernard said. "Yes, I am," The girl said trying to look okay. "You don't seem to find at all. Here, let me heal you" Aether said. They realized that Aether was not just Fairy of Brightness but also healing. As the girl was fully healed, the girl thanked them again. "Thank you for saving me," The girl said. "You're welcome," Aether said pridely.

"Oh! What is this? A brooch" Bernard saw a brooch where the girl was injured. "Oh, that was mine," The girl said. "It looks beautiful," Bernard said. He likes the pattern of the brooch. It was a dragon-patterned brooch. Bernard loves the dragon pattern because it reminds him of the gift of his kimono, which is a dragon pattern. "Y-you think so?" The girl asked shyly. "T-this is the first time my brooch had been complimented," The girl said happily. "No one likes your brooch?" Bernadette said. "Well, nobody likes dragons because they thought dragons were the symbol of chaos and destruction so no one likes my brooch," The girl said.

"Hey, we've been chatting without knowing your name or introducing ourselves. What's your name?" Bernadette asked. "My name is Dolores and your name?" Dolores asked. "My name is Bernadette McColleen and this is my older twin brother Bernard McColleen," Bernadette said. "Don't forget about me. My name is Aether" Aether said introducing herself. "I've never seen a fairy before," Dolores said fascinated by Aether's existence. "Well, now you have," Aether said. "Oh, I must go, bye," Dolores said waving her hand. "Bye, Dolores," Said Aether.

After Dolores left, the three of them began wandering again. "I wonder why people in this nation hate dragons," said Bernard. "yeah, wonder why," said Bernadette. The two of them wanted to know why people in La Zafiro hate dragons and they had someone who could answer. "Aether, why do people in La Zafiro hate dragons?" Bernadette said. Aether began to explain everything "Well, 200 years ago, dragons attacked La Zafiro and ended thousands of lives until the Heavenly Angels, the world's protectors, trapped them inside the world's core," Aether said.

"So, whatever you do, beware of the dragons" Aether warns the two about the dangers the dragons might bring them. "We promised," said both of them.
