All seemed lost, an unsolvable catastrophe. There was no reason to believe in a truce. Everyone had given up.

Yet, when all hope seemed to have vanished, after 40 years of war, five surviving humans, each from a different dimension of the Modpack, found themselves in the dimension of "The Peaks", united to fight against evil. They were not strong, let alone armed, but they were hopeful and brave. They had an ace up their sleeve; they were all five expert Creator Sorcerers of black magic.

With total mental synchronization and a clear common goal, they used an interdimensional object called "The Talisman" to create the strongest spell of all. To stop a desire for war and power, driven by hatred and resentment towards their own kind, the opposite feelings of understanding and brotherhood filled the sky with a glow of rebirth. The five humans sacrificed themselves and access to the portals that connected the dimensions, trapping all creatures in the last dimension visited, as the price to pay for black magic. The talisman filled with color and thus left behind the grayish hue that characterized it.

Chaos was locked within the talisman.
Hatred itself was removed from existence.
Humans, thanks to this sealing spell, stopped using violence.
Every emotion or impulse capable of generating conflict or suffering was imprisoned, along with the evil spirit. No human could feel those feelings that only their species had managed to cultivate for their own kind.

Finally, the Modpack was recognized as "the dimensional group of peace," a title it maintained for centuries. This is the Legend of the Modpack. A legend that was passed down for a long time.

The five legendary wizards were soon seen as the saviors, those who sealed the chaos, and the story was told throughout the terrestrial world. Everyone showed their gratitude to the five humans, now known as the "Modpack-Crusaders".

Chapter 0.5
Forbidden Books

From the early centuries in this new climate of peace, the study of black magic had been strictly prohibited, considered sacrilege. Despite this, to ensure that there was someone capable of replicating the same spell that brought peace, unbeknownst to society, the old artifacts on magic were transcribed and preserved, studied by a small group of scribes with a high concentration of creative power.
At the head of this group, five of them showed themselves openly to the rest of society, recognized by all as representatives of the original "Modpack-Crusaders," becoming the only five humans, every century, legally allowed to study magic.

Considering also the first heroes who sealed the chaos of war, three generations of Crusaders succeeded one another over three centuries.

During the beginning of the third generation, a catastrophe occurred, and the library containing the magical manuscripts of the scribes was lost after a fire. Only a small part of the texts was saved and hidden by the Modpack-Crusaders. From that day on, the group of scribes ceased to exist, and only a few of them remained in contact with the Crusaders.

In the present day, around 2260, only one chaos-sealer wizard (Modpack-Crusader) is still alive and has already found his ideal successor for the fourth generation. These two are Mage Baffon and the young boy Alexoss, from the sandy village of "Arenaria," a place that hides beneath it the mineral-rich caves where the dormant talisman lies.

They were the only ones capable of bringing to light further writings of the scribes, but understanding their danger, they kept them hidden from the rest of the world and only used them for good purposes.

Among the various texts found by the two wizards, two manuals emerged containing what appeared to be the "prophecy of chaos." Following the narrative in one of the volumes, Alexoss used a spell to enter the world of dreams, within a place called the "Oneiric Battlefield," where one never truly dies, and only the "Creators" can access it through dreams.

If one dies, they are reborn at their base until they wake up from the battles. Alexoss is the only one to go there in flesh and blood, not through dreams. He doesn't dream of competitions or war and doesn't even wish for chaos to return. Consequently, he's the only one at risk of truly dying.

Chapter 1
The Prophecy of Chaos

Alexoss firmly believed that those dreams stemmed from the desire of the "players" in that place to return to war in the Modpack, and he simply couldn't accept that. That's why he began researching in that place.
Gradually, he understood that not everyone posed a real danger; some were just eager to be able to get involved, to challenge an opponent in a friendly manner, or to experience a sports competition without harming anyone. These types of activities were indeed prohibited, now rendered impossible by the seal of the talisman.
Alexoss himself had the opportunity to experience the euphoria of these dream games, honing his skills and developing an innocent passion for them, as well as a certain ability.
Game after game, he understood the difference between competition and conflict, between play and confrontation, and learned to appreciate this new reality.
Alexoss, the awake and pure player of that place, made sure that no one won too many games, ensuring that they wouldn't return the following evenings.
Given his training and the experience gained over a month, he won all the battles one after the other.
Nevertheless, as reported in the prophecy of chaos manual, if these dreams occur every night, the idea of competition within the dreamer evolves into a desire for war, and the persistence of this thought allows him to become aware of what he has dreamed.

For some time now, only one player appeared in every single game, even after defeats, every night. His desire was crystal clear upon waking up. This was StarD, a human with an absurd creative concentration.
During the battles, StarD studied Alexoss's peculiar behaviors.
He understood that Alexoss was not a sleeper. Following him, he discovered the portal and managed to sneak into the tower from which the aspiring crusader came, in the terrestrial world.
There, he stole a copy of the prophecy book, and within a few days, everything fell back into chaos.
The seal broke. All human emotions and feelings became common again. Chaos arose in every troubled soul, in every wounded heart.

Everything that had remained sealed in the talisman, now empty and gray, still hidden underground, was dispersed across the dimensions.

A legal system was established, but the military forces were unable to stop something they had never seen before: hatred.
But the truly grave matter was that this time the spell also afflicted the other creatures, previously unable to experience the same human emotions.
They, who didn't even know them, were pumped with an overdose of these feelings, becoming the perfect vessel for chaos to develop.
Influenced by negative feelings, flames of chaos grew inside them, until they were possessed. At that point,
they became unable to rid themselves of it, trapped in a limbo of violence from which not even death could save them. Unable to die, if defeated, chaos would make them disappear in a purple smoke, only to relocate them elsewhere and cause more suffering.

Just a few months after the outbreak of this sort of epidemic, many creatures were continuously possessed by what emerged from the talisman. No one seemed capable of facing this disaster. The situation soon became truly dire.

And then, with a smile on their faces and the excitement of a new adventure never experienced before, four young boys found themselves on a journey towards something they never thought they would be a part of.
