Hello my lovely readers,
after months of not writing and even longer not publishing anything, I'm back with a new idea! It's something that sat in my drafts ever since I fell into the Naruto fandom and got fascinated by the Uzumaki clan. Sadly, not much is known about the clan, so I figured why not spin my own little twist on the story of these people.
So enjoy this little treat!***********************************************************************
An inexplainable tension was in the air as she walked quietly through the village, but for once in her life Kaida didn't listen to Uzushio's whispered warnings like she'd used to. With the wild sea flowing in her blood, it was almost instinctual to understand the signs of the sentient island, though the whispers had been becoming less in the last weeks. And today, even if Uzushio was whispering louder than in years, she ignored them. Today she would listen to her heart and not to an island.
The village was bustling like usual, shinobi and civilian going through their daily lives with no worry weighing them down. The Second Shinobi World War had been over for barely a year now and the wounds left behind had begun to heal. The sharp pain of loss was fading, soothed by the chance of a peaceful future. At least that was what the Uzukage claimed, however, in a war there were no winners, only survivors and even those had to continue fighting for the rest of their lives against the torrent of guilt and sorrow threatening to drown them.
Skipping towards the elegant administration building – the centre of Uzushio and its greatest treasure with their library hidden in its bottom – Kaida waved cheerfully at old Hiroshi as she passed his weapons smith, laughed as a group of children almost ran into her – entirely invested in their game of tag – and caught a stray kunai, smirking teasingly at the embarrassed Chunnin.
This was Uzushio, a home to those that were still searching for a purpose, for those that needed to learn to love themselves and for those that just wanted to be home.
Oh, how she loved her village and how she would miss it should her father put her before the choice. Though, while her soul would crack if she had to leave, she knew it would be a small price to pay for what she would gain – one she was willing and prepared to give.
It was her image mirrored in a shop window that caused her steps to halt momentarily.
Uzumaki Kaida, first born daughter of Uzushio's leader Uzumaki Daisuke and Clan heiress Suda Yuna, older half-sister to Uzumaki Kushina and future leader of Uzushio. This was who she was, who she had been born and raised to be, but the young woman was willing to go against the kami and fate, all for one man.
The man she loved with all her heart.
Takeshi Taiga.
During the war a platoon of Konoha shinobi had been sent to Uzushio just like some of her people had been sent to Konoha and one of those shinobi had been Taiga.
Taiga was everything and more than she could ever have imagined. The brunet didn't fear her despite the stories surrounding her name, nor did he flinch from her touch, and most of all, he never once tried to tame her will like her father had tried too many times to count.
The Konoha shinobi was the first to love her for the fierceness living in her soul where others regarded her with cautious awe. Her people admired her strength, praised her power but they still shied away from her subconsciously.
It didn't take long for her to be completely enamoured with the Jounin and the man seemingly with her as well.
Her father was a good man, he had led Uzushio through the war and to peace and he had always an open ear for his people. Daisuke wanted peace more than anything and when the war ended, he had turned away from the violence that painted a shinobi's life.
